HIGH TENSION

What You Need To Know:

HIGH TENSION is a dubbed French horror movie. This bloody thriller begins with a young American woman, Alex, bringing home her college friend Marie to her family, who has recently bought an isolated French farmhouse. Their study break is interrupted by a mad killer, who slaughters Alex’s family and kidnaps Alex. Hiding from the killer, Marie tries to rescue Alex. She ends up locked in the killer’s rusty truck with a bound and gagged Alex. A stop at a convenience store leads to more cat-and-mouse shenanigans and more bloody twists.

The middle part of this thriller contains some fine suspense. Regrettably, this part is book ended by much bloody violence. The movie also contains some strong foul language, lewd sexual content, homosexual allusions, and nudity. Although the evil killer is eventually stopped, the edited violence in this movie is still way over the top. Also, the movie implies the murder of a family dog and the murder of a little boy. HIGH TENSION is an abhorrent entry into the horror genre. The lack of a recognizable movie star will hopefully dampen its financial success in countries outside of France, including the United States.

Content:
