More Detail:

The un-rated, Canadian movie, A MAN IN UNIFORM, is a fascinating but bleak study of the dire consequences of giving the trappings of power to the wrong person. Henry Adler works a boring bank job by day, but aspires to be a full-time actor. When he succeeds in landing a part in a TV series about tough cops, he takes his role very seriously. He spends hours wearing his costume, and, ultimately, he starts to wander the city streets as a counterfeit cop and even helps a policeman subdue a suspect. His adventures as a cop on the streets become more dangerous and out of control, leading finally to his involvement in the slaying of a drug dealer.

A MAN IN UNIFORM’S portrait of an impaired individual suddenly having total authority over others is frightening, indeed; a sober reminder that physical force not governed by proper legal procedures and God’s moral principles will ultimately lead to horrendous abuse. This film’s viewpoint is unsparing, punctuated by a good deal of rough language, bursts of bloody violence and some jolting and unpleasant views of back-alley sex with prostitutes. This film is literally no walk in the park, and its message about the hazards of power is ultimately buried by its own excesses and despair.
