TEA PARTY

What You Need To Know:

TEA PARTY is a well-made documentary about the “tea party” movement which began in February 2009. The “t.e.a.” stands for “Taxed Enough Already” inspired by the original “Boston Tea Party” in 1773. Many Tea Party events have been formed as a backlash against the massive spending by the Obama administration and calls for a repeal of the so-called “stimulus bills” and recent increases in the size of the federal government. The movement is organized by common Americans who support limited government, the original intent of the United States Constitution.

TEA PARTY follows a few dedicated individuals who brought this movement into the forefront of the political discussion. Included are Jenny, the woman who lost her business and her house but led the Tea Party March on Washington as well as Nate, a young black man who voted for President Obama but now helps his friends understand the socialist changes that Obama has brought to the United States. TEA PARTY should be seen by all Americans of any stripe to understand how regular citizens can influence the course of government. The filmmaking is very good and fast paced. It will encourage and enlighten many.

More Detail:

TEA PARTY is a well-made documentary about the “tea party” movement that began in February 2009. The “t.e.a.” in “tea party” stands for “Taxed Enough Already” and takes its name from the original “Boston Tea Party” where tea was tossed into the Boston harbor in 1773 in protest of unfair taxes.

Starting in mid 2008, then President Bush began a government bailout for industries with what became known as the TARP bill. Then, newly inaugurated President Obama took that further with the introduction of the so-called “stimulus bills” and a massive healthcare program introducing what has been called by many a “socialist” agenda.

The Tea Party was formed as a backlash against the massive spending by the Obama administration and by Congress and calls for a repeal of the so called “stimulus bills” and massive increase in the size of the government. The movement is grass root led and loosely organized by common Americans who stand for and hold to the American Constitution.

TEA PARTY follows and profiles a few dedicated individuals who brought this movement into the forefront of the political discussion: Jenny, the woman who lost her business and her house but led the Tea Party March on Washington; Dr. Fred who organized a town hall meeting of physicians protesting the health care bill; and, Nate, a young black man who voted for Obama but is now dedicated to helping his friends understand the socialist changes that Obama has brought to the United States.

While TEA PARTY clearly comes from a conservative point of view, it is non-partisan in its scope. This keeps it from being a one-sided bit of propaganda. Of course, not everyone is happy with the Tea Parties. The mainstream media and some politicians called the Tea Party organizers “racists” and “bigots,” and sometimes even lewd pagan epithets, but seeing the organizers and speakers at the various events clearly shows that this name-calling was unfounded.

An original song speaks of the Tea Parties being in the spirit of “Jesus, Martin, and Gandhi.” Jesus is quoted as saying that perfect love casts out fear.

TEA PARTY should be seen by all Americans of any stripe to understand how regular citizens can influence the course of government. The filmmaking is very good and fast paced. It will encourage and enlighten many.
