THE INBETWEENERS MOVIE

"Lewd Comedy from Across the Pond"

What You Need To Know:

THE INBETWEENERS MOVIE is based on a lewd British sitcom about the sexual and other misadventures of four teenagers. Will, Neil, Simon, and Jay decide to go to Crete to celebrate their high school graduation, get drunk and hook up with girls. A pretty woman tricks them into going into one disco, but no one else is there. Then, however, four British girls walk into the disco. The rest of the plot shows the guys interacting with the girls and other people on Crete. Most of the comedy involves the various problems the girls have with these four misfits.

Like many R-rated American comedies, THE INBETWEENERS MOVIE is filled with constant foul language and very lewd content. The story is rather episodic. This makes the movie seem longer than it actually is. Despite some clever banter about relationships and a message against being mean, the worldview and attitudes on display are clearly pagan and immoral. Media-wise viewers will find THE INBETWEENERS MOVIE abhorrent. Most of the jokes aren’t worth viewing, much less repeating.

More Detail:

THE INBETWEENERS is a lewd British sitcom about the sex lives of four nerdy teenagers, which aired between 2008 and 2010. A movie about the guys going on a graduation holiday in Crete did very well last summer in the U.K. The movie is finally opening in U.S. theaters this month.

In the story, the four guys (Will, Neil, Simon, and Jay) decide to go to Crete to celebrate their graduation and hook up with girls. A pretty woman tricks them into going into one disco, but no one else is there. Then, however, four British girls walk into the disco. Jay, who’s somewhat of a braggart, refuses to talk to the girls. He thinks the pretty saleswoman outside will keep her promise to come into the disco later. So, Will, Simon and Neil dance awkwardly toward the girls to nonchalantly strike up a conversation.

Simon and Neil almost immediately hit it off with two of the girls. The prettiest girl, Alison, however, tells Will she has a Greek boyfriend named Niklos. Also, Simon is still pining away for his old girlfriend, who just broke up with him. That leaves the chubby girl for Jay, but he keeps mocking her weight.

Will Simon stop pining for his old girlfriend, who clearly doesn’t care about him? Will Jay get over his weight issues with the chubby girl? Will Neil stop going after middle-aged women instead of the girl nearer his age? And, will Alison finally wise up and see that Will is the guy for her?
