More Detail:

THE TOWER is a riveting, exciting, action-packed Korean thriller.

It’s Christmas Eve. Tower Sky is a brand new luxurious skyscraper for high-end tenants. The staff are franticly preparing for the highly anticipated Christmas party to be held at Tower Sky. The manager of the building, Dae-ho, is a single father who had to cancel Christmas plans with his daughter, Hana, so he could work. Thankfully, Dae-ho’s co-worker (whom he secretly likes), Yoon-hee, offers to show Hana around Tower Sky so Dae-ho can work. The party is beginning to start and guests start arriving.

Young-ki is a legendary firefighter who has plans to take a vacation from work so he can spend Christmas with his wife for once. Little does he know that tragedy is about to strike.

The Tower Sky party is in full swing with delicious food and a beautiful view of the city. Because of the warm weather, no one is getting a white Christmas. So the owners of Tower Sky prepare a special gift for their guests. A fleet of helicopters flies above and sprinkle beautiful white snow to add to the Christmas cheer.

As the helicopters deliver the snow, an updraft of wind catches a chopper. The pilot loses control, and it crashes into the Tower Sky. Explosions and chaos engulf the building. Dae-ho immediately reacts and frantically looks for his daughter, Hana.

Firefighter Young-ki is about to leave the station when the alarms go off with news of Tower Sky. He decides that they need his help, not knowing the sacrifice he may have to make.

Rescue teams begin evacuating people as the flames get worse, and the building’s structure begins to give way. Many are still trapped on the higher levels, including Dae-ho, Yoon-hee and Hana. Young-ki heroically goes beyond the call of duty to save those who are trapped. But, will it be enough?

The visual dynamic alone in THE TOWER is enough to keep viewers interested, with some of the best special effects and CGI you’ll see. Alongside the breathtaking visuals are characters you truly care about. Heroic ordinary men who gladly sacrifice themselves for women and children are honored and revered. The acting delivers enough drama to make you cry, and yet they still manage to insert some moments of comic relief. In a day and age where Biblical manhood is being attacked, it’s refreshing to see a movie that portrays honorable, upright, respectable men and women.

Within the movie’s moral worldview are some strong Christian elements. A group of Christians are seen praying for deliverance. And, though they look a little silly at times, eventually even a firefighter joins their prayers of deliverance. Ultimately, God does answer their prayers, and they praise Him for it. MOVIEGUIDE® highly commends THE TOWER, but recommends caution due to some foul language and violent images. THE TOWER superbly brings back the disaster movie in all its thrilling glory.
