MANDIE AND THE SECRET TUNNEL is well made and has lots of charm. Best of all, there’s a very strong Christian worldview with a message of following, trusting and praying to God. In fact, Mandie actually grows in her personal relationship to God through Jesus Christ. MANDIE AND THE SECRET TUNNEL is a wonderful movie that the entire family can enjoy.

Based on the best selling children’s book series, MANDIE AND THE SECRET TUNNEL is the story of Mandie, a young teenage girl who seeks out the secrets of her family in the southeastern United States in 1899.
When Mandie’s father dies unexpectedly, Mandie runs away from her mother, a mean spirited woman. Indian friends of her father guide her to her uncle, a relative she didn’t know she had and has never met. Regrettably, her uncle has recently passed away as well. The uncle was very wealthy. Mandie and her new friend, Polly, begin to explore his mansion to discover the secrets.
Mandie’s favorite bedtime story told by her father was of an Indian princess who went on a journey and traveled through secret tunnels and passages. That story intercuts throughout the movie as Mandie has adventures similar to the Indian princess in the story.
With twists and turns, Mandie and Polly discover clue after clue looking for her uncle’s will while bogus relatives interested in the uncle’s fortune show up.
MANDIE AND THE SECRET TUNNEL is well made. The story would be especially appealing to children who love mystery books. There is much charm to the story with humorous characters and a fun plot. There are also a number of plot twists and reveals in the story as the young teenagers seek out the secrets of the mansion to discover who Mandie really is.
Best of all, this MANDIE movie has a very strong Christian worldview, with a character who speaks often of following God and trusting in Him. Mandie’s character grows in her relationship with God, at first being angry for her father dying and in the end coming to grips with that. Prayer is especially mentioned as a way for Mandie to process her feelings. Finally, Mandie is told that Jesus suffered more than anyone ever did. Therefore, He can understand our own suffering.
MANDIE AND THE SECRET TUNNEL is a wonderful family movie, one that the entire family will enjoy.
