Christian Actress/Singer Jamie Grace Shares the Heart Behind PureFlix’s THE BEVERLYS

By Jessilyn Lancaster, Managing Editor

“Anybody can make a difference,” said Jamie Grace, a Christian actress, singer, vlogger and new mother.

Grace stars in THE BEVERLYS on PureFlix, and revealed how her heart for fostering children and adoption actually intertwined with the show.

“No, you don’t [have to foster lots of children] to make a difference,” Grace says. “Even my character in THE BEVERLEYS, she’s not a foster mom. She’s a young, aspiring singer, aspiring songwriter. She’s not a foster mom at all. She’s just taking time out of her day to be like, ‘Oh, I can help. I can do something. I want to love these kids.’

“That’s just something that really speaks to my heart in such a good way,” Grace continued.  “When it comes to foster care, like it’s not always about ‘OK, which one of you guys can foster the most kids, and which one of you guys can seem like a hero?’

“It’s not about being a hero, it’s just about being human, and it’s about doing what God has called us to do, which is to love for the vulnerable,” Grace said.

According to the Movieguide® review,

THE BEVERLYS follows three girls who once lived in a group home. When their group home burns down, a music producer in Los Angeles takes them into his home. It’s now his responsibility, along with his assistant and butler, to help raise the girls and teach them how to live their lives for God.

Tommy Beverly, the producer, is about to be fired from his company and has a terrible public image. His assistant, Jamie, believes taking the girls for just a few days will save his job and image. After finding out the group home won’t be ready to live in for a few months, he decides to keep them for as long as they need a home. It also doesn’t hurt that the girls can sing and just might be the saving grace he needs to produce a new hit record for his label.

Jamie wears a few hats when it comes to the girls, but the main one is teaching them about the Lord and how following Him will give them everything they need in life. Throughout the series, the girls run into obstacles, and Jamie is able to apply biblical lessons to what they’re facing. She’s also in charge of writing songs for the girls to sing so that Beverly can take them to his music label.

THE BEVERLYS is a cheerful, touching series designed for families, especially pre-adolescent children. It contains strong Christian, morally uplifting values and lessons, which make up for some uneven quality. THE BEVERLYS has a strong Christian, biblical worldview. Each episode applies a life lesson from the Bible. There are positive life lessons that both children and adults will be able to learn and apply to their own lives. The series is worthwhile for both children and adults with little immoral content.

Grace, who is the mother of a 5-month-old daughter, said the series is a positive, wholesome option for families who want to ensure their children consume quality content.

As she and her husband, Aaron, raise baby Isabella to honor the Lord, they are hyper-aware of the media surrounding their child.

For Grace, though, her parents instilled this habit in her life at an early age.

“There were a lot of movies that we didn’t watch, a lot of TV shows we didn’t watch, a lot of music we didn’t listen to, and, in my adulthood, I’m grateful for those boundaries that my parents put in our lives to make sure that we not only were making wise choices, but also to make sure that they were teaching us how to make wise choices about the music that we’re listening and about the type of media that we consume,” Grace said.

She even warned against accepting the face-value of a movie or TV show that says it’s child-appropriate.

“It’s like when you’re an adult, do you go see everything that’s for adults? Because that could lead down a weird path. We’re really being intentional about [watching a TV show or movie], does it make sense for our family? Does this make sense for who we’ve been called to be and does it make sense for who we’re choosing to be? I’ve always been kind of like that with my own life, but especially being a mom, I’m very conscious of it,” Grace said.

In addition to acting, Grace also writes music. Some of her most popular songs include, “Hold Me,” “Wait It Out” and “Beautiful Day.”

After hinting at an upcoming surprise for a few weeks, Grace just announced she will release new music every month for the next year.

“That starts next month with a Christmas song, and then, sometimes, it’ll be EP. Sometimes, it’ll be just one song. Sometimes, it’ll be music videos. A lot of new music is happening starting in December, and I’m really excited about that.”
