United Airlines Takes Measures to Prevent Passengers From Watching Porn

United Airlines was on the 2019 Dirty Dozen List, but they’re making efforts to fix that.
In response to hundreds of messages flooding their customer service line regarding sexual harassment and pornography, the airline has decided to improve training for their flight attendants.
According to endsexualexplotation.org, “The new training emphasizes United Airlines’ zero tolerance policy for hardcore pornography (and anything over R-rating) on personal devices and helps flight crews on how to approach passengers who view such material in-flight.”
Training on the new rules started in January.
United Airlines gave this statement to the National Center on Sexual Exploitation:
“The safety of our customers and colleagues is our top priority. Sexual harassment, inappropriate behavior, intimidation or predation have absolutely no place anywhere in our society — including, and especially, in our industry and on our aircraft. In 2018, we strengthened our training for flight attendants to recognize, address and respond to instances of sexual harassment of any kind on board our aircraft and will continue to adapt and enhance this training moving forward. We recognize the need to continue the discussion among all of our work groups to further ensure that our policies reflect our values and safeguard those traveling with us.”
In the last few years, more and more passengers have had experiences where others were viewing hardcore porn during a flight. Anyone could understand how this could be problematic since quarters are tight and children can peek across the aisles or in between seats and see adult content on someone else’s screen.
Watching adult videos could also make passengers and crew feel uncomfortable or even triggered if they have experienced sexual harassment in the past.
Passengers who fly United felt like flight attendants weren’t equipped to handle situations that involved the use of porn. However, with this new training program, United is preparing to regain its status as a top airline.
