CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY is a wondrously quirky and heartwarming adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book about poor Charlie Bucket’s fantastic, life-changing visit to Willy Wonka’s amazing candy factory. The movie imparts many positive moral messages, not the least of which is the fact that having a loving family is the best reward of all.

In WHAT A GIRL WANTS, Daphne (Amanda Bynes) sets off to find her estranged father, London's Lord Dashwood, and must soon decide whether or not she has the ability and the will to become a proper society girl. This movie has sweet, humorous, uplifting moments, but they are very slightly marred by some iconoclastic notions of "freedom" and society.

In MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA, Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria escape from Madagascar, only to crash-land on the plains of Africa, where they encounter species of their own and grow through some new adventures. ESCAPE 2 AFRICA is one of the most hilarious, heartwarming animated movies of the year, with many positive values, but it has some crude humor and light pagan content that require caution for older children.

ARCTIC DOGS is about a white fox named Swifty, who dreams of growing up to be a Top Sled Dog at the local Arctic Blast Delivery Service and uncovers a nefarious plot by a wicked walrus to raise the earth’s temperatures and melt the town. ARCTIC DOGS is a playful movie with some whimsical, eccentric characters and a strong moral worldview with redemptive elements about supportive friendships, helping others, teamwork, and sacrifice, mitigated by brief rude humor and some environmentalist elements about a global warming conspiracy.

SOUL SURFER is an inspiring, powerful story about young surfer Bethany Hamilton, who overcame great obstacles when a tiger shark took her arm while she was surfing. SOUL SURFER is an inspiring, powerful story with a wonderful performance by AnnaSophia Robb about a courageous young woman who has deep faith in Jesus Christ.

HIGH STRUNG FREE DANCE is a highly entertaining musical drama about a struggling dancer and a struggling pianist in New York City who use both talent and grit to land roles in the next biggest show to hit Broadway. Full of excitement with music and dance, the movie has some very good messages about the importance of relationships, hard work, reaching for your dreams, and putting personal feelings aside for the good of the whole. Rated PG, HIGH STRUNG FREE DANCE is suitable for most audiences, but caution is advised for children due to some sensuality and a couple obscenities.

HOMEWARD BOUND II: LOST IN SAN FRANCISCO places the Seaver family pets, playful Chance, feminine Sassy and faithful Shadow on a homeward trek through big city perils. Exciting though unoriginal, the movie contains some mild action violence as it demonstrates unconditional love and self-sacrifice. It is a MOVIEGUIDE family friendly movie.

I STILL BELIEVE is the poignant, heartrending true story of the famous Christian singer Jeremy Camp’s marriage to Melissa, who’s dying of cancer. Clearly and poignantly showing that true love never fails, the movie is beautifully filmed, very well acted, heartrending, and engaging.
