(BBB, CC, Pa, L, VV, SS, N, AA, MM):

Dominant Worldview and Other Worldview Content/Elements:
Very strong moral worldview that stresses the need to protect those who can’t protect themselves, fights for justice and accountability for sexual predators and offenders, includes an emphasis that the light needs to be bigger than the darkness and that doing right and seeking the truth is the best way to prevent sexual attacks, plus some strong Christian elements where Christian ministries come to the aid of sexual abuse victims to help them learn ways to effectively protect themselves and mention of the attempt to forgive and manifest grace, and some pagan elements where sinful men get lured into the idea of having sexual relations with multiple people at the same time, but this never comes to pass because of the police stings in the movie, and one man recalls a time when he and his cousin experimented

Foul Language:
Man says sucks once and OMG once

Violence:
Conversations about sexual abuse such as child-rape, violent pornography and kidnapping/trafficking minors against their will around the world, but it’s clear that filmmakers condemn these violent acts, karate shown as a means to teach sexual abuse survivors how to physically protect themselves

Sex:
No depicted sex, but sex trafficking forms the base of the story with discussions of oral sex on minors and things of the like, Hugh Hefner and other organizations mentioned that masquerade sex as something to be avoided rather than cherished in the covenant of godly marriage between a man and a woman

Nudity:
Woman’s bottom shown in red underwear while filmmakers mention that lewd sites use images to attract clients for sex, and pole dancers shown in bikini-type outfits

Alcohol Use:
Woman offers a man wine, but he doesn’t take it, and mention of a drunk girl when man recalls a story

Smoking and/or Drug Use and Abuse:
No smoking or illegal drugs; and,

Miscellaneous Immorality:
Manipulation tactics discussed for sex with underage children, a Viagra bottle is shown, sexual predators lie about their intentions and probably their previous interactions they’ve had with sex trafficking.

More Detail:

CONTRALAND is a powerful documentary that educates viewers about the evils of sex trafficking in the U.S. CONTRALAND has an extremely moral worldview with some Christian elements but due to discussions of rape, trafficking, manipulation, sex with minors, and some paganism, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution for adults.

CONTRALAND begins with Nancy Stafford as she greets the audience with horrifying statistics about sex trafficking in the U.S. Sex trafficking is a 38-billion-dollar industry that turns children into contraband. Consequently, the United States has become “Contraland.”

Craig Sawyer formed Veterans for Child Rescue aka V4CR, which aids local police officers in the fight to stop sexual predators from harming underage children. Throughout CONTRALAND, Sawyer and his team travel to Utah, Connecticut and Arizona to host stings that lure predators, only to arrest them for engaging in the desire to exchange sex for money.

Jack Farmer, a respected intelligence specialist and the basis for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan character, gives several talking head interviews during the movie to bridge the gap in viewers’ understanding of the warped motivations behind these sexual predators. Also, some sex trafficking survivors share how one decision brought them to a life of harm. Sawyer’s own daughter discusses getting raped and helps her father catch sexual criminals.

CONTRALAND is a well-produced and achieves its mission on getting the viewer’s mind on fire for justice. What’s really shocking is that many of the sexual predators are well-respected family men in their communities, which just goes to show that making society safe for children and protecting children from harm should never be overlooked. One perpetrator even says he needs to “do something fun” with his life, which is sure to send chills down one’s spine.

CONTRALAND has an extremely moral worldview where Veterans for Child Rescue comes to the aid of sex trafficking victims for support, justice and healing. CONTRALAND also has some inspiring Christian elements, but discussions of rape, trafficking, manipulation, and sex with minors is extremely hard to watch and inappropriate for younger viewers. For these reasons, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution.
