What You Need To Know:

SWITCHED is a family-friendly, faith-based comedy available on digital and Video on Demand. Cassandra Evans and Katie Sharp are as different as it gets. Cassandra is an unpopular, musically gifted church girl. Katie is a popular social media influencer with no consideration for others. One day while at school, Katie dumps spoiled milk onto Cassandra and films it. Katie’s video goes viral, which hurts Cassandra. That night Cassandra prays that Katie one day will learn to walk in her shoes. To Cassandra’s surprise, her prayers get answered the next day when she and Katie switch bodies.

SWITCHED is entertaining and heartfelt, with good acting. It has a strong Christian, moral worldview where characters discuss biblical principles and repent of poor behavior. One character turns from her disbelief in God and utters a prayer at the end. A Kairos Prize winner, SWITCHED also shows that social media can be both used and abused, even by parents. The movie communicates that kindness and treating others the way you want to be treated is the best policy, especially online. There’s almost no objectionable content in SWITCHED.

More Detail:

A MOVIEGUIDE® Kairos Prize winner, SWITCHED is an uplifting movie that follows two teenage girls as they mysteriously switch bodies one day and must learn how to walk in each other’s shoes. Available on Video on Demand and digital, SWITCHED has a very strong Christian, moral worldview where characters discuss biblical principles and repent of poor behavior. The body switch comes after one girl prays to God. SWITCHED is a rather wholesome family movie with little objectionable content.

Cassandra Evans and Katie Sharp are as different as it gets. Cassandra is an unpopular, musically gifted church girl, and Katie Sharp is a popular social media influencer with no consideration for other people. Despite Katie’s standoffish behavior to any who isn’t in her click, Cassandra admires her for her social media following and all the qualities she wishes she had. One day while at school, Katie dumps spoiled milk onto Cassandra and films it. Katie’s video goes viral which, for obvious reasons, hurts Cassandra. That night Cassandra prays that Katie will learn one day to walk in her shoes.

The next morning, things aren’t normal for both Katie and Cassandra because they’ve switched places!

Aside from the obvious hiccup of being someone else, Katie and Cassandra have major events to prepare for in their lives. Katie has a major opportunity to be the lead influencer for Glam Slam, and Cassandra has an audition for Julliard. While navigating new social circles, Katie and Cassandra can only hope that all their troubles disappear and that they turn into themselves ASAP.

The lead actresses in SWITCHED, Miya Horher and Madeleine Bryne, are convincing in their roles. Seasoned actors John Schneider (DUKES OF HAZARD) and Denise Richards (THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL) are also fun to watch as Katie Sharp’s stage parents who want her to succeed as an influencer. The movie inserts emojis to signal to viewers when a character makes a social media post. These don’t distract from the movie, but the opening credits of SWITCHED move too fast before jumping into the story. Also, the script is a little too on the nose when it comes to theme, but some audiences won’t mind that.

SWITCHED has a very strong Christian, moral worldview where characters discuss biblical principles and repent of poor behavior. One character turns from her disbelief in God and utters a prayer at the end of the movie. Oddly, the movie doesn’t explicitly explain that God allows Katie and Cassandra to switch. Positively, though, SWITCHED shows that social media can be both used and abused, even by parents. The movie also communicates that kindness and treating others the way you want to be treated is the best policy, especially online. There’s almost no objectionable content in SWITCHED.
