Nicole Kidman: Family Is a Place Where I Can Breathe and Be Me

Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman shared in a recent interview that she found comfort in her family during her latest role.

Family is “that place where I can breathe and feel me,” the star said.

Kidman just finished work on an HBO Max television show, which was “very taxing,” and “took a toll” on her.

To decompress after shoots, Kidman would spend time with her husband, Keith Urban, and two daughters.

“My family was with me, and just to have my little girls, and Keith, and have dinner with them brings immediate reality back. Suddenly the boundaries get set,” Kidman said.

Kidman and Urban strive to keep their family as a priority, no matter where their careers take them.

“We never leave the kids, one of us is always there,” Kidman told Marie Claire Australia for their November cover.

Kidman brought Urban and her children to the set when filming THE UNDOING for HBO. Since most of the world was on lockdown due to the COVID-19, the family used it as a chance to bond. However, with Urban’s career as a country music superstar, Kidman had to lean heavily on her extended family.

“When Keith went to Nashville and I had to work late nights, I rang [my sister Antonia] and asked her to move in with the girls and she did, and brought along her kids. That’s special.”

The actress continued, “It’s the nature of what we’re all having to do now – you get to be commune-like; this extended family where you’re all raising each other’s kids together. We’ve all had to go back to basics, and this year has required it because people are pleading for help.”
