12 Brand-New Christmas Movies to Watch With Your Family This Season

The New York Times recently touted the change in the Christmas movie formula to hone in on the LGBTQ+ agenda rather than the classic tale of a down-on-her luck woman venturing to a small town (or country) for a personal reason only to fall in love.
Christians were outraged, claiming there were no new evangelical movies to counter the the rising sinful tide out to change the popular Christmas movie narrative.
Except, there are.
Just this season, Movieguide® has found a dozen brand-new, positive, uplifting Christmas movies that contain strong moral or even Christian/biblical worldviews.
Absolutely, we need to stand against unrighteousness in entertainment. We must also celebrate what is good, lovely and pure. With Hallmark no longer being the bastion of wholesome Christmas entertainment, other platforms, like UPtv, have stepped up in its place. Even streaming services like Netflix have some appropriate options.
Without further ado, here are 11 new movies you can watch with your family this Christmas season.

DOLLY PARTON’S CHRISTMAS ON THE SQUARE is an entertaining, flamboyant musical on Netflix about a small town with a vibrant church threatened by a wicked real estate woman, whose father built the town, who wants to sell the whole town to build the biggest mall in America. CHRISTMAS ON THE SQUARE has a powerful, emotional redemptive ending, but focuses more on angels than on Jesus at Christmas, has some light foul language and heavy themes, so caution is advised.

THE CHRISTMAS CHRONICLES: PART TWO is an adventure-filled family Christmas movie about a former elf who wants to take the star that powers the North Pole for his own greedy motives, unless Santa and his team band together to stop him. THE CHRISTMAS CHRONICLES: PART TWO is an engaging Christmas movie with plenty of jeopardy, strong moral elements and references to the Star of Bethlehem, but there are some magical Santa Claus elements and light action violence.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS DROP is a romantic comedy streaming on Netflix about a Congressional aide named Erica, who’s forced by her boss to travel to Gaum and work over the Christmas holidays against the backdrop of Anderson Air Force Base’s annual humanitarian Christmas drop. The comedy in OPERATION CHRISTMAS DROP is hit or miss, but the movie’s historical background, good performances and heartfelt messages of humility, sacrifice, love, and Christmas cheer overshadow the blandness.

JINGLE JANGLE: A CHRISTMAS JOURNEY follows an inventor who has lost his motivation when his work is stolen and his wife passes away, but is inspired once again when his granddaughter comes to live with him. Streaming on Netflix, JINGLE JANGLE: A CHRISTMAS JOURNEY is a fun, exciting, heartfelt musical that has a strong moral, redemptive worldview stressing love, family, forgiveness, and the joy of creation and including positive references to Christmas and prayer, but focuses too much on personal belief.
In THE PRINCESS SWITCH: SWITCHED AGAIN, Stacy tries to help her friend, Kevin, get back together with Margaret, who’s about to be crowned Queen of Montenaro, but Margaret’s greedy, conniving cousin, Fiona, throws a monkey wrench into Stacy’s plans. Streaming on Netflix, THE PRINCESS SWITCH: SWITCHED AGAIN takes a while to get started, but the movie’s second half is funny, with some good jeopardy, and has an uplifting ending with strong, overt Christian, biblical elements.

In MIRACLE ON CHRISTMAS, which is available on Amazon Prime and on DVD, the holiday spirit seems distant for Mary Boyce until an unexpected visitor and a miracle change everything when her mother and siblings come to spend Christmas Day with her husband and two children. MIRACLE ON CHRISTMAS is a heartfelt drama that does a great job setting a Christmas mood and spreading the joyful message of the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ.

CHRISTMAS WITH A CROWN is a light but enjoyable romantic comedy about a European prince, traveling incognito, who starts to fall for an American woman he’s helping to plan a small town Christmas festival, but his mother, the Queen, uses her powers to force him back home. Available on Amazon Prime and DVD, CHRISTMAS WITH A CROWN is pretty entertaining and has a strong morally uplifting worldview, with several references to needing a “Christmas miracle,” but there are no overt references to Jesus, the Reason for the Season, so the holiday’s meaning is secularized.

A VERY COUNTRY CHRISTMAS HOMECOMING, the third movie in UPtv’s A VERY COUNTRY CHRISTMAS series, shows a newlywed couple planning the perfect first Christmas as a family, but the woman’s former father-in-law shows up to throw a monkey wrench into the plans. A VERY COUNTRY CHRISTMAS HOMECOMING is a fun, family-friendly, heartwarming Christmas movie with plenty of holiday cheer, traditional and original Christmas songs, and family values.

CHRISTMAS WITH A PRINCE: BECOMING ROYAL is a romantic drama on UP TV about an American doctor in love with a European prince who encounter problems when another country’s princess tries to sabotage their relationship and possible marriage. BECOMING ROYAL is a feel-good Christmas movie with many positive moral, redemptive messages and will work its way into viewers’ hearts during the Christmas season.

A RING FOR CHRISTMAS is a UPtv Christmas movie on UPtv about a woman who gets financially cut off from her parents, unless she marries a man with their approval to inherit money from a trust. A RING FOR CHRISTMAS is a heartfelt, somewhat satisfying movie with some moral elements promoting honesty, family and marrying for the right reasons, but it has a heavy emphasis on personal happiness and personal expression, plus four light profanities and some social drinking.

MISTLETOE MAGIC follows a female TV reporter and self-proclaimed “Christmas Grinch” who realizes she accidentally donated her family’s beloved “magic mistletoe” to a charity and gets help from an old classmate who shows her that the magic of Christmas is real and true love does exist. MISTLETOE MAGIC is a fun Christmas holiday movie that extols family, Christmas, forgiveness, love, and selflessness, but there are no overt references to Jesus, the Nativity Story or the Bible, so MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger children.
THE FARMER AND THE BELLE: SAVING SANTALAND is a wide video on demand release about a supermodel who’s worried about aging out of the industry, until one day she remembers a charm bracelet with biblical beauty affirmations that she thinks she lost at a Christmas farm called Santaland. THE FARMER AND THE BELLE: SAVING SANTALAND is an entertaining “feel good” movie for families with a strong Christian, biblical worldview and little to no questionable elements.
