Former President Donald Trump Resigns From the Screen Actors Guild

Former President Donald Trump announced his resignation from the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) after he came under fire for allegedly inciting the riots at the U.S. Capitol.

A union announcement claimed the national board “voted overwhelmingly” in favor of holding a disciplinary hearing for Trump. However, Trump resigned before such a hearing could be held.

SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris pointed to Trump as “sustaining a reckless campaign of misinformation aimed at discrediting and ultimately threatening the safety of journalists.”

Carteris’ release continued: “Donald Trump attacked the values that this union holds most sacred — democracy, truth, respect for our fellow Americans of all races and faiths, and the sanctity of the free press.”

In his resignation letter, Trump wrote, “Regarding the so-called Disciplinary Committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares!

“While I am not familiar with your work, I’m very proud of my work on movies such as Home Alone 2, Zoolander and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps; and television shows including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Saturday Night Live, and of course, one of the most successful shows in television history, The Apprentice — to name just a few,” Trump wrote.

Trump’s letter continued: “I no longer wish to be associated with your union. As such, this letter is to inform you of my immediate resignation from SAG-AFTRA. You have done nothing for me.”

SAG-AFTRA released a concise response: “Thank you.”

Trump was previously forced off multiple social media platforms after their unchecked CEOs claimed he was inciting violence.

Since Trump’s suspensions across these platforms, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter have been working overtime to punish conservative voices.
