Dog the Bounty Hunter Calls Off Hunt for Brian Laundrie

By Movieguide® Staff

Duane Chapman, aka Dog the Bounty Hunter, announced he ended his search for alleged killer Brian Laundrie after Laundrie’s remains and belongings were found.

“We are praying for Gabby’s family as yet another day ends with seemingly more questions than answers though it does seem the search for Brian is indeed over,” Chapman said.

Laundrie was a person of interest in the murder of his fiancee, Gabby Petito.

Chris and Roberta Laundrie, Laundrie’s parents, and authorities found the remains along with some of Laundrie’s personal possessions like a notebook.

“These items were found in an area that, up until recently, had been underwater. Our evidence response team is on scene using all available forensic resources to process the area,” said Michael McPherson, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Tampa division. “It’s likely the team will be on scene for several days.”

The discovery may bring more questions than answers.

“There will be time to ask questions such as what was the extent of the Laundries’ involvement in aiding Brian,” Chapman said. “But now we wait.”
