Lee Strobel’s THE CASE FOR HEAVEN Coming to Theaters This Spring

By Movieguide® Staff

Sandoval Studios recently teamed with K-LOVE Films for the upcoming documentary, THE CASE FOR HEAVEN.

Based on the book written by New York Times best-selling author Lee Strobel, the movie debuts as a Fathom Event in theaters for three nights only; Monday, April 4, Tuesday, April 5, and Wednesday, April 6 at 7 p.m.

“Based on the book published by Zondervan Books and written by New York Times best-selling author Lee Strobel, the documentary answers the questions of what awaits us after death, the evidence for Heaven and Hell, and what really happens in Near-Death Experiences,” the trailer’s description on YouTube reads.

“In THE CASE FOR HEAVEN, director Mani Sandoval takes audiences on a fascinating journey to discover what happens after we die. Lee Strobel explores the evidence for an afterlife as he addresses mankind’s biggest fear: death,” it reads. “THE CASE FOR HEAVEN was inspired by Strobel’s own brush with death and will challenge, encourage and inspire viewers. The documentary includes interviews with world-renowned pastor Francis Chan, best-selling author John Burke, Evangelist Luis Palau, and more.”

Strobel hopes that the documentary will encourage people to look to the God of the Bible.

“The pandemic has a lot of people pondering what happens after people close their eyes for the last time in this world,” Strobel said in a recent press release. “This film provides compelling evidence from both inside and outside the Bible to show that we will, indeed, continue to live on.”

“Heaven, for billions of people around the world, is an awe-inspiring place only fully known once you’re there,” director Mani Sandoval added. “In this film, I believe audiences will experience our most ambitious attempt to sonically, emotionally and cinematically touch Heaven – even if it’s just for a second.”

In 2017, PureFlix adapted Strobel’s best-selling book, “The Case for Christ,” into a Movieguide® Award-winning movie by the same name.

A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads

THE CASE FOR CHRIST is the story of how Chicago Tribune journalist Lee Strobel set out to disprove Christianity when his wife, Leslie, became a Christian and challenged Lee’s atheist beliefs. Leslie starts going to church with a Christian nurse who saved their daughter’s life at a restaurant. When Leslie tells Lee about her newfound interest in Christianity, Lee gets angry. A Christian colleague urges Lee to investigate the evidence for and against Christ’s resurrection. So, Lee does exactly that. There are some bumps along the way, however, that threaten his marriage.

THE CASE FOR CHRIST is a terrific, well-scripted drama. Mike Vogel and Erica Christensen do an excellent job making their portrayal of Lee and Leslie Strobel seem like real people. This is Director Jon Gunn’s best job yet. THE CASE FOR CHRIST also presents a riveting, dramatic depiction of an actual journalistic investigation. It shows that the evidence for Christianity and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is beyond reproach. However, it also extols the honest search for truth. THE CASE FOR CHRIST is a must-see movie for both Christians AND atheists.
