GiveSendGo Stands By Biblical, Conservative Principles Despite Media/Government Backlash

Jacob Wells and Heather Wilson, co-founders of the Christian crowdfunding service GiveSendGo, recently raised money to support Canadian truckers who protested the COVID-19 vaccine mandate in Canada.

The donations flooded in after competitor GoFundMe barred donations to the truckers Freedom Convoy 2022 fundraiser.

GiveSendGo campaign raised over $9 million after GoFundMe’s announcement, according to Fox News.

The GiveSendGo founders are open about their Christian faith and said that many, like GoFundMe, have tried to disparage their credibility as a company over false “reports of violence and other unlawful activity.”

Last week, Wells and Wilson released a statement encouraging supporters not to believe recent news articles that reported data leaks from GiveSendGo.

“Everything you read isn’t true,” Wilson said in a recent press release. “There was no data breach exposing giver’s photos, passports, or driver’s licenses. GiveSendGo doesn’t require anyone to upload pictures containing a person’s identification when donating.”

On Feb. 14, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau introduced a new state of national emergency due to the trucker’s protests.

“I think this was a huge PR mistake by GoFundMe,” Wells told Rachel Campos-Duffy on FOX & FRIENDS WEEKEND. “Our platform is booming. We haven’t seen this much business. I mean, last year we grew incredibly. This year, the same pace is on 100% month over month. It’s absolutely astounding. People are vowing to never use GoFundMe again because of the ideological stances that they’re taking. We take a neutral position. We allow people to fundraise.”

According to an article from the Ottawa Citizen, the Ontario government wants to cut all potential funds to the Canadian convoy, “successfully seeking a court order preventing anyone from using the millions of dollars raised for the convoy through the fundraising platform GiveSendGo.”

“We’re not governed by Canadian court orders,” Wells said in a press release. “They have no jurisdiction over us. We will continue to allow the fundraising for the trucker convoy on GiveSendGo and we will be releasing all funds to the campaign’s recipients.”

The Dailywire reported:

“We are in a battle. We didn’t expect it to be easy. This has not caused us to be afraid. Instead, it’s made it even more evident that we can not back down. Thank you for your continued support, prayers and the countless emails letting us know you are standing with us,” the statement concluded. On Saturday, GiveSendGo reported on Twitter that they are continuing to work with different campaign organizers to ensure funds reach the Freedom Convoy.

“The funds from the Freedom Convoy are not frozen contrary to what you might be hearing on the news. GiveSendGo is working with many different campaign organizers to find the most effective legal ways to continue funds flowing,” the company wrote.
