Grammy-Nominated Artist Saved From Abortion By Divine Intervention

By Movieguide® Contributor

GRAMMY nominated recording artist Major R. Johnson Finley salutes his mom and thanks God that he is alive today. Known professionally as MAJOR., the R&B singer says he owes his life to divine intervention.

In a recent interview with CBN News, MAJOR. says, “My mom tells me why she named me MAJOR. She was pregnant with a kid out of wedlock and considered abortion. So, she’s like ‘What do I do with this child that people are going to judge me for having if I have it?

“Divine intervention stepped in, and on her way twice to the abortion clinic, she had severe car trouble. From a tire busting to a tire going flat. So, she was like, ‘God I hear you. I am going to have this child and if I name him Major, I pray he makes a major impact on the world.’ So, we salute moms, with always having intention.”

MAJOR. already had a budding music career when both NBC’s THE VOICE and AMERICAN IDOL rejected him, but he says his faith is the reason he was able to continue.

“This is discouraging because you just kind of build your hope on the things that you think are what it is. That’s when I realized that my hope has to be anchored in something that is more constant than things that I am aiming towards. And that’s why my hope is in my faith center, God,” MAJOR. shared.

MAJOR. follows fellow R&B artist Keke Wyatt in speaking out for the value of human life and protecting the unborn. As previously reported by Movieguide®, Wyatt shared the news of her pregnancy at a concert, but was met with negative comments and addressed detractors in an Instagram post:

“I’d like to send a special prayer out for the rude, cruel people that took time out of their day to get on social media and make disparaging and morbid comments concerning my pregnancy.”

“This past weekend at my show, I was very transparent with my amazing fans (who I see as family) about the status of my pregnancy. I explained to them, the day after my maternity photo shoot my husband, [Zackariah Darring], and I received the news that our baby tested positive for Trisomy 13, per the doctor. It was a moment that wasn’t planned during my show but at the end of the day I felt in my spirit to share or encourage another women that might have to face this battle.”

Wyatt concluded by mentioning her faith and how it sustains her in difficult moments such as these:

“No weapon formed against me will prosper anyway. BUT a[n] innocent unborn baby?? Be careful putting your mouth on people. I pray that God gives you grace when Life comes knocking on your front door and you won’t reap what u are sowing. For all of the POSITIVE stories, emails and support I’m getting THANK YOU!”
