Disney Employee Running For Congress Says ‘Silent Majority’ Support Florida’s Parental Rights Bill

By Movieguide® Staff

Despite Walt Disney Company’s candid disapproval of Florida’s recently passed Parental Rights in Education bill (HB 1557), employee and Florida congressional candidate Jose Castillo claimed not everyone at Disney agrees.

After Disney commended LGBTQ+ content and reinstated a same-sex kiss in Pixar’s upcoming LIGHTYEAR movie, Castillo said that the “silent majority” of Disney employees agreed with the Florida bill.

“There is immense pressure to toe the company line,” Castillo told Fox. “However, the reality is that those drawing attention to this issue are in the minority. The Disney cast members who support the parental rights defended by HB 1557 far outnumber those who are protesting against it.

“I think that is a terrible miscalculation because it’s clear that the democratic process produced this law,” Castillo added in response to Disney’s support of the minority of their staff.

“Florida’s HB 1557, also known as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law,” Disney said. “Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that.”

HB 1557 has been causing a stir around the country as Hollywood pressured the Walt Disney Company to bow to LGBT pressure.

Movieguide® previously reported:

After a recent letter from LGBTQ employees working at Pixar Animation Studios, Disney announced that it would restore a same-sex kiss between two female characters that was initially pulled from the upcoming LIGHTYEAR.

The letter of outrage accused Disney of cutting intimate scenes between same-sex characters from their children’s movies.

The letter also stated that Disney Company leadership censored “overtly gay affection” in its feature-length movies.

The uproar from Pixar employees comes after Florida governor Ron DeSantis passed a parental rights bill that opposition called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

Despite the mainstream narrative, the bill’s official title is Parental Rights in Education, and “bans school employees or third parties from giving classroom instruction on ‘sexual orientation’ or ‘gender identity’ in kindergarten through third grade,” Fox News reported.

Although the word “gay” cannot be found in the new bill, many condemned DeSantis and the bill, claiming it is anti-LGBTQIA+.

While Walt Disney Company held its ground to focus on story versus sexuality in the past, LIGHTYEAR could mark a significant turning point.
