Hailey Bieber Discusses Faith, Marriage, Future Family: ‘You Don’t Fill The Voids In Your Life Through Money Or Fame’

In a new interview with the Wall Street Journal, Hailey Bieber opened up about her faith and the influence it has on her marriage to her husband, Justin Bieber.
“I know that you don’t find the things that fill the voids in your life or your heart through money or fame or this industry or cool parties or what rooms you’re in with people,” she said when asked about her Christian faith. “Because I’ve been there and I’ve seen it and I’m also married to somebody who’s seen it on even a bigger scale than I have.”
Hailey and Justin met when they were 12 and 15, respectively, and one of the things that bonded them was their devotion to God. Even though they don’t seem like your typical couple, Hailey insists they’re like everyone else.
“Behind closed doors, we’re two really normal people that just have not-normal lifestyles and careers,” she shared. “I think given the magnitude of Justin’s career, he’s a very normal person, and I don’t think that always happens.”
The couple has been married for almost five years now, and some wonder when they will start a family.
“I think ideally in the next couple of years we would try,” Hailey answered. “But there’s a reason they call it try, right? You don’t know how long that process is ever going to take. Definitely no kids this year; that would be a little bit hectic, I think.”
Many fans speculated that Hailey was pregnant when she wore a looser dress at Sunday’s Grammy awards, but the model insists she is not.
“There’s this thing that happens for women when you get married,” she continued. “Everybody always assumes it’s: First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby. Well, what about all the things I want to accomplish in my business? I think I had it ingrained in my head that I was going to want to have kids right away and I was going to want to have kids super, super young. Then I turned 25 and I’m like, I’m still super, super young!”
The couple continue to rely on Christ as their relationship progresses.

“Being able to share that with each other—to have that bond of faith and spirituality—is so [critical] for us,” Hailey said in her ELLE cover story. “It’s the most important part of our relationship, following Jesus together, being a part of the church community together. It’s everything.”
The young supermodel was unashamed to share just how significant faith has been throughout her life.
“As I got older, it got harder to follow church and the Bible because it felt very adult. I don’t want to sound wrong, but it was boring. I didn’t care about it anymore, until I found a church I felt was geared toward young people. And for me, that was the Hillsong Church in New York City,” Hailey said. “It started to feel like my own little community of people who were also young and following God and just immersed in a church community. Then I developed my own relationship to church and my own relationship with God, separate from being raised that way by my parents. That’s been a cool journey for me.”
