Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Michael Dogbe recently celebrated his baptism, which took place on Good Friday.

The 25-year-old athlete posted a video of his baptism to his Instagram, with the caption: “’For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good, to give you a future and a hope.’ — Jeremiah 29:11”

“Getting baptized with Ashley [his girlfriend] this Friday was such an Amazing experience!” he added. “I’m Thankful for Gods presence in my life and for all that he has blessed us with!”

Ashley also posted a video of her baptism.

“Happy Resurrection Day! He is Risen!!!” she wrote. “Michael and I were baptized on Good Friday and it was such a special moment. Over these last few months we’ve really devoted our lives to Christ. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. He will direct the way. Proverbs 3:5-6.”

“This is the beginning of a new life with Jesus,” she continued. “Jesus is my peace. Jesus is my hope.”

In just three years on the Cardinals, Dogbe enjoyed great success on the field and he makes sure to always give credit to God’s presence in his life. Dogbe frequently posts his gratitude to God on game days, with captions like “Giving thanks to the most high” and “Thank you God for another blessed season.”

In the past, Dogbe also spoke about how he wishes to honor God through his football career, combining his talent with hard work and dedication.

“I don’t rely on talent at all, that’s God-given,” Dogbe said. “I rely on effort, playing with physicality and coaching. Those things you can work on every single day as a football player.”
