As THE CHOSEN starts production for Season 3 of their hit series about the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, creator Dallas Jenkins asked for prayer for an upcoming monumental scene.

In a recent press release, THE CHOSEN announced Season 3 features several large-scale productions like Jesus feeding the 5,000 people.

According to the press release, Jenkins and producers expected 12,000 extras to help with the scene, representing fans from 36 countries and all 50 states.

To accommodate the large-scale scene, producers found a 30,000-square-foot soundstage in Midlothian, Texas.

“We were looking for a place that would be convenient for cast and crew, where we could capture the essence of the Middle Eastern locales where Jesus’ ministry took place,” President of THE CHOSEN Brad Pelo said. “When we saw this site and the wide open spaces with rolling hills, we knew it was the place to build our soundstage and set, and to become our home for years to come.”

THE CHOSEN production team will use the space to recreate historical towns such as Capernaum and Rome, with the total bill expected to reach $16,000,000.

“Midlothian is pleased to be home to the filming of The Chosen,” said Midlothian Mayor Richard Reno. “The presence of the film company has brought a lot of excitement to the community. It is also contributing to the local economy and has the potential to help attract tourists to our town.”

“They are also partnering to provide a Film Conservatory at the camp where they are filming for our youth,” Reno said. “I feel like Midlothian is being blessed by the production of the series, which is more than just entertainment.”

In a recent email, Jenkins asked for prayer for the upcoming season and future of the most-successful crowd-funded series in history.

“I’d appreciate if you could pray for us this coming week as we film the feeding of the 5,000 scene,” Jenkins said in an email on June 3. “It will be, without question, one of the biggest weeks in the history of The Chosen. There are going to be over 10,000 people involved in the process. Please pray for focus, for safety – especially for protection from what could be brutal heat, which is my biggest fear right now for our guests – and for success in bringing to viewers a life-changing moment in history (not to mention, one that’s been so important to me).”

“I admit it…this coming week is very intimidating to me, and I’m a little overwhelmed. Prayers appreciated,” he said.
