Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary Of Online Ministry

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association passed a major milestone with the celebration of their online ministry’s 10 year anniversary.

The website Search for Jesus connects users with the Gospel, as well as trained volunteers who are on hand to answer questions or advice.

“This is significant because we’re following Billy Graham’s legacy of spreading the Gospel across the globe using every opportunity we have. The average person spends nearly seven hours a day on the internet, so we want to meet these people where they are,” said Mark Appleton, director of internet evangelism for BGEA. “Search for Jesus has given us the chance to spread the Gospel like never before.”

Search for Jesus was launched in 2012, and has reached over 100 million visitors. Since its launch, the site has expanded into seven languages, including Spanish, Chinese and American Sign Language.

“We started building this ministry one step at a time, taking steps of obedience and faith in God,” Appleton continued. “These people aren’t just numbers, but real, hurting men and women who finally found hope.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Graham’s life, including a documentary about his life and ministry:

PBS debuted the BILLY GRAHAM documentary, part of the AMERICAN EXPERIENCE series, on May 17, sharing the evangelist’s life and ministry with viewers.

“BILLY GRAHAM explores the life and career of one of the best-known and most influential religious leaders of the 20th century,” according to the AMERICAN EXPERIENCE synopsis. “From modest beginnings on a North Carolina farm, Graham rose to prominence with a fiery preaching style, movie-star good looks and effortless charm. His early fundamentalist sermons harnessed the apocalyptic anxieties of a post-atomic world, exhorting audiences to adopt the only possible solution: devoting one’s life to Christ.  Graham became an international celebrity who built a media empire, preached to millions worldwide, and had the ear of tycoons, royalty and presidents. At age 99, he died a national icon, estimated to have preached in person to 210 million people. BILLY GRAHAM examines the evangelist’s extraordinary influence on American politics and culture, interweaving the voices of historians, scholars, witnesses, family, and Graham himself, to create a kaleidoscopic portrait of a singular figure in the American experience.”

Religion News reports that director Sarah Colt spent two years researching Graham through his sermons, audio recordings, and other interviews.
