Actor Kel Mitchell: ‘Prayer and Time With God Are so Important to Do Every Day’

By Movieguide® Staff

Actor and comedian Kel Mitchell, who went from Nickelodeon fame to youth ministry, recently offered his voice for the reading of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount for the faith-based app, Pray.com.

The GOOD BURGER and ALL THAT star read the sermon for Pray.com’s Bedtime Bible Stories series.

“Partnering with Kel is an absolute pleasure. His knowledge of the Bible brought incredible inspiration to the project and has really produced an amazing Bedtime Bible Story,” Max Bard, vice president of content at Pray.com, said. “Kel has a phenomenal voice for bedtime stories. I remember even while we were recording in the studio, our audio engineer had mentioned it was one of the most relaxed recording sessions on which he had ever worked.”

Aside from his iconic roles on Nickelodeon, he also is a youth pastor at Spirit Food Christian Center in Los Angeles, California.

Mitchell released a 90-day devotional that he hopes will encourage people to make time to pray and build their relationship with God called “Blessed Mode.”

“Prayer and time with God are so important to do every day,” Mitchell said. “Finding time to unwind, destress and just relax in the Word of God is such a blessing! This is why I am so excited about partnering with Pray.com. Prayer is a priority.”

Actor Kel Mitchell, known for GOOD BURGER and co-host of DELICIOUSNESS, recently released his first book, “Blessed Mode,” and a song by the same name.

The actor and comedian is open about his Christian faith and hopes that “Blessed Mode” can encourage believers to renew their minds daily.

“So ‘Blessed Mode’ I did because a lot of people are going through anxiety, depression, emotional walls from their past, are worried about the future, and I wanted them to know that if you connect with God, there’s always a blessed breakthrough in every emotional wall,” he told Movieguide®. “Connecting with him, knowing that you are beautifully and wonderfully made.”

“It’s a devotional book,” he continued. “A lot of people wanted me to do a memoir at first, but I was like with all the ups and downs in my life, God was there for me in both, but in my down times, a lot of devotionals helped me out a lot because I had a busy lifestyle and it was just awesome to connect with God and get ready for my day and preparing for my day to get over this mind of mine that the enemy is trying to take over.

“You prepare to go outside but you’re close right? So prepare spiritually for what might come up because only God knows. We don’t know what’s coming up in the future. We don’t know what might happen, but I know that I want to respond in love and the only way to do that is to connect with God. That’s staying in a mode, which is blessed mode,” he said.
