Jenny Marrs Encourages Followers: ‘You Just Have to Keep Looking for The Joy’

By Movieguide® Staff

In a new Instagram post, Jenny Marrs reflects on life, joy, and sorrow as she shares a personal story from her life on her family’s Arkansas farm.

“I sent this photo to two of my oldest friends in the world a couple of hours ago,” she captioned a shot of her muddy boots.

Her caption continued:

We were remarking on the detours life has taken us on and the unexpected, sometimes really hard, and sometimes really abundant, paths we’ve have journeyed on over the years. We marveled that this girl from the suburbs of Central Florida spent her morning in her pjs in a pasture covered in literal mud and muck giving her sick sheep shots and meds.

As I rolled Sunny onto his side, I prayed over him and thanked God for this beautiful life of mine. Yes, there are hard seasons and there is sorrow, but, sorrow is always intermingled with joy. I shed a lot of tears in the pasture the past 24 hours but I’ve also smiled so big at moments like this morning when my sweet girl ran out to help me in her pjs. She saw me from her bedroom window, ran down the stairs, threw on her muck boots and raced out to help dispense meds and fill fresh water. Her servant heart is so evident here in this place.

Joy and sorrow. If you live long enough, you learn these two are partners in this dance called life. And, no matter what, you just have to keep looking for the joy. That’s the secret: always, always, find the joy. Because it’s there. Even when it doesn’t seem to be, joy can be found. Always.

Movieguide® previously reported on Marrs’ life on the farm, and how she uses her experiences to inform her parenting:

FIXER TO FABULOUS star Jenny Marrs recently shared a sweet video of her family spending time on their farm, from picking blueberries to taking care of their cows.

“Checking the fields each evening, pulling weeds, and picking berries has been the framework for our kiddo’s summers for the past seven years,” Jenny shared. “They jump in and work right alongside us. It’s a beautiful privilege to be able to work as a family to create delicious food and to cultivate a space for our community to gather and experience a slice of farm life.”

Her caption continued:

This small blueberry farm has taught us that we can all DO something bigger than ourselves. The ripple effect of these fields reaches farther than we ever anticipated. It isn’t easy but it IS simple: profits from our u-pick farm in NW Arkansas benefit a farm training program for orphaned teens in Marondera, Zimbabwe.

This farm is one of the legacy’s Dave and I want to pass down to our children. We want them to value hard work and nature and, most of all, generosity. We want them to understand that it’s never “us” and “them.” It’s not “here” and “there.” We have had shared meals with our Zimbabwean leaders at their table and at ours. We have become dear friends who do life together as best we can across a sea. We hold them close in prayer and we have hopefully shown our kiddos that even though we live in different countries, with different cultures and foods and languages and looks, we are united in our humanity and our desire to run the race set before us well. With so much division in our world today, we pray these experiences will allow our kids to rise up as world changers and light bearers for their generation.

So, yes. These fields may look like just an ordinary blueberry farm. But, there is so much more sewn into this soil: hopes and prayers and hard work and heaps of love.

We’ll see you in the fields in less than a month!
