Nick Vujicic Talks Counterculture: ‘The Christians Are Going To Be Tested’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Kirk Cameron recently sat down with Nick Vujicic to talk about how to promote Christian values, as well as battle counterculture ideas, in today’s society.

Cameron asked Vujicic his thoughts on counterculture and what that means in terms of faith.

“Counterculture [is] living in a world that says something’s right when you know the Bible says it’s wrong, or the other way around, and that is when the Christians are going to be tested,” Vujicic explained.

He continued, “I actually heard recently that Gen Z [is]…arguably the most biblically illiterate generation. This is a really interesting spot where we need to choose: are we going to dig our heels in, be in the world, but not of the world, and do we play the victim card?”

Vujicic went on to say that he and others would “occupy here until Jesus comes back in the financial industry, in the digital, the school system.”

Cameron also asked Vujicic how he stays positive and maintains an attitude of gratitude with his disability. Vujicic was born with tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder that causes someone to be born with no arms or legs.

“Kirk, it’s really simple,” he started. “I’m a saved, redeemed soul, by the blood of Jesus Christ, and by faith and belief that He died for me on the cross.”

He continued, “As I read my Bible, as I pray every day, it’s that newness of mind to say, ‘No matter what happened yesterday, no matter what today looks like, God, help me to learn more about who you are.’”

Movieguide® previously reported on Vujicic’s work as an evangelist:

Evangelist and author Nick Vujicic boldly shares his testimony and the story of his life without arms or legs globally. Vujicic is adamant that all life has value and that “God has a plan” for His creation.

In a recent interview with the Christian Post, Vujicic shared his reaction to the movie premiere of ROE V. WADE, shown at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Feb. 26.

“Many people have asked me, especially over the last 18 months, ‘What happened, what really happened in our country for it to be where it is?’ And I really believe that it started with the family,” Vujicic told CP.

Vujicic encouraged people to turn to God and Scripture for the ultimate explanation of why life matters.

“I also believe that it started with the church and understanding that we must hold on to what God has given us, the basics of what He’s given us in Scripture — that all of life has value, that all of life God can use for His purpose. And that even though we don’t get a miracle, we can still be one,” Vujicic said.

Vujicic’s life and personal struggle are a testament to God’s faithfulness. No medical explanation could be found when Vujicic was born in the early ’80s. Growing up, Vujicic struggled through the physical and mental battles, which often left him depressed and lonely, according to his biography.

However, Vujicic credits his faith in God for overcoming his many challenges and working to share the Gospel through his story.

“No matter who that child is, no matter what the doctors say, God has a plan. When God says He’s got a plan, a good plan, He can take whatever we have and use it for good,” Vujicic said.

Vujicic added that faith and trusting in God’s plan are the key components to having victory over earthly struggles.

“You got to trust in God. And that’s the pinnacle and epiphany of faith — to understand that only God can do that,” Vujicic said. “Only God can use the man without arms and legs to be His hands and feet and call him to stand in front of the gates of Hell and redirect traffic.”

“When we stand in front of the gates of Hell and redirect traffic, that’s when we understand that what is for man impossible — it is possible with God!” he added.
