Anne Wilson Hopes New Song ‘Brings Joy To Everyone Who Hears It This Holiday Season’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Christian artist Anne Wilson and country star Josh Turner have teamed up for a special Christmas treat — a music video for their holiday single “The Manger.”

“The Manger” comes off Wilson’s EP of the same name. The six-track project contains her covers of Christmas classics like “Mary Did You Know,” “O Holy Night,” and “Just Because It’s Christmas.”

“Sometimes the most simple places represent the most incredible days of our lives,” Wilson said of the single. “The stable and the manger mark a day when our lives changed forever — the day Jesus was born.”

She continued, “I’m so honored to have the amazing Josh Turner join me in the music video for ‘The Manger,’ and I hope it brings joy to everyone who hears it this holiday season.”

This isn’t the only recent big event in Wilson’s career.

Her debut album, My Jesus, was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Album at this year’s Grammys. It’s her first nomination from the Recording Academy.

Movieguide® previously reported on Wilson’s career:

Anne Wilson, “My Jesus” singer-songwriter, recently shared how God used the tragic death of her brother in 2017 to launch her music career.

“Losing Jacob changed everything for me,” she said in a recent CBN interview. “I gained a new perspective on life that I had never had. I realized how short these years on earth are, that heaven is the final destination, heaven is where I want to work towards. I want to tell people about Jesus. I want to work as hard as I can to introduce Jesus to as many people as I can.”

Movieguide® previously reported on how Wilson grew closer to God through that difficult time: “Instead of turning from Him, we chose to walk closer to Him through that time,” she shared. “So I became on fire for the Lord and we just chose to trust Him. We saw the Lord do a lot of really incredible things and [He] was just so faithful and kind to me and my family and it was such a sweet season.”

“I had this passion all of the sudden to tell the world about Jesus,” she explained. “I didn’t want anyone to have to experience a loss and know that their son or daughter or wife or husband or whoever didn’t go to heaven.”

However, Wilson never thought that she would share the Gospel through music.

In fact, she had never sung in front of anyone before. But a few days after her brother’s death, as she sang and worshiped at the piano, her mom heard her and encouraged Wilson to sing at the funeral.

Before then, Wilson explained, she “was pursuing wanting to be an astronaut and work for NASA and had no passions in music at all.”

However, “I sang at my brother’s funeral for the first time in front of anyone and that was really the moment that I realized God was calling me to music, God was calling me to spread His name, to spread His love around the world,” Wilson shared.

“I didn’t know what capacity that would be [in] or what that would look like, but it’s so amazing to look back and see how God used the tragedy of losing my brother to start something so incredible and change people’s lives through my songs and my ministry.”
