Before long, animals and people in her town are miraculously healed. When it’s discovered that Sara has an inoperable brain tumor, she desperately needs a miracle of her own. This film has a strong Christian moral worldview, shining a light on prayer, family and miracles. There is light violence and some mischief but nothing too salacious. THE GIRL WHO BELIEVES IN MIRACLES is perfect for the 10+ crowd.

BECAUSE OF WINN DIXIE is a charming movie based on the novel by Newbery Medalist, Kate DiCamillo. It follows a girl named Opal whose father is a new preacher in an unfamiliar town. In an answer to her prayer, a mischievous dog she befriends at the grocery store helps her make new friends. While the film has Christian themes of love and forgiveness, there are romantic “follow your heart” messages. There’s also light violence and language. Despite a few biblical missteps, it’s a sweet story about the difference one girl can make in her community with the help of God’s love.

MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN is a heartwarming movie based on the real-life story of the Beam family, whose daughter, Anna Beam, suffers from an incurable medical disorder. She is miraculously cured when she accidentally falls 60 feet into the hollow of a tree. This faith-based family drama features a mother who fights for her daughter. The family leans on each other (and God) in a time of crisis. There are scenes with jeopardy and children’s diseases that may be intense for young children. This one is a tear-jerker so have a box of tissues nearby.

ORPHAN HORSE
ORPHAN HORSE is a family drama that tells the story of a runaway girl who hides in the barn of a retired horse trainer where she bonds with a troubled horse, making a difference in all their lives. It’s a sweet story about healing but parents should know there is light language and violence. There are dark moments involving child abuse (which takes place off-screen) so ORPHAN HORSE isn’t appropriate for young children. It’s a triumphant story of forgiveness and redemption for older kids and teens.

LITTLE WOMEN is based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott and centers around the March sisters (and their mother) as they deal with life during the Civil War. Each of the four sisters is determined to live life on their own terms. This film offers a very strong Christian worldview with no foul language or violence. It’s a tale of sisterhood and God’s grace. There is a slight feminist bent to it but nothing overtly political. Part drama and part romance, LITTLE WOMEN is a captivating movie for the 10+ crowd.

Tweens will love GRACE UNPLUGGED, which follows the story of Grace Tray, whose faith is tested when she launches a music career in Hollywood. She must fight the lure of stardom when she’s thrust into the real world. This engaging film has a very strong Christian worldview with pro-family messages. Parents should know there is a scene with alcohol, and a girl runs away from home. The positive messages outway the questionable moments as it’s a prodigal story. It’s filled with amazing praise music to boot. Kids 12 and older will enjoy GRACE UNPLUGGED.
