Dwayne Johnson Thanks Fans for Praying for Maui

Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shared a tribute to the island of Maui and Hawaiian residents in an emotional Instagram video.
“Thank you guys around the world for all of your love, your support, your light, and your prayers. Thank you for sending them to the islands of Hawaii,” said the actor and former Hawaii resident.
The Maui wildfire catastrophe started on August 8 and, as of August 15, had taken 106 lives, Maui Now reported.
“I know that by now all of you around the world have seen the complete destruction and devastation that has hit our Hawaiian Islands, our island of Maui, and I’m completely heartbroken over this,” Johnson said.
“Everything that I’ve seen transpire over these past couple of days, everything that continues to transpire hour by hour and minute by minute, it’s all heartbreaking,” he continued.
A Maui country press release from August 15 shares that some, though not all, of the fires have been contained.
According to the release, the Upcountry/Kula fire is 60% contained, while the Lahaina fire is 85% contained, with no active threats at this time.
The Pulehu/Kihei fire is 100% contained, and the Puʻukoliʻi / Kaʻanapali fire has been extinguished.
Continue to pray for the families that are affected by the fires.

Following the devastating wildfires on Maui, actor and Hawaiian native Jason Momoa has urged people to avoid traveling to the island.
In an Instagram post, he shared, ‘Maui is not the place to have your vacation right now. DO NOT TRAVEL TO MAUI. Do not convince yourself that your presence is needed on an island that is suffering this deeply. Mahalo to everyone who has donated and shown aloha to the community in this time of need.’
‘The devastation from the wildfires will have a lasting island-wide impact on Maui’s resources,’ his post continued.
