Kelsey Grammer to Star in Paramount+ FRAISER Reboot

Kelsey Grammer will reprise his role as Frasier Cane on Paramount+’s FRASIER reboot.

“[The reboot] follows Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston, Massachusetts, with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfill,” says a Paramount+ description.

Paramount+ recently released a slew of pictures revealing a first look into the show. The first look features Frasier in a bar and Frasier in his son Freddy’s apartment.

The 10-episode season will premiere on October 10, with the first two episodes released on Paramount+ and a new episode streaming every Thursday after. CBS will also air the first two episodes on October 17 as a teaser for the series.

Along with Frasier, Bebe Neuwirth will return to the show as Frasier’s ex-wife, Lilith, and Peri Gilpin will reprise her role as Roz, the producer of Frasier’s radio show.

The series will also welcome many newcomers to FRASIER’s world, including Jack Cutmore-Scott, who will play Fraiser’s grown-up son, Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as an old college friend of Frasier’s; Toks Olagundoye, head of the university’s psych department; Jess Salgueiro Freddy’s roommate; and Anders Keith, who plays Frasier’s nephew, David.

David Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier’s brother in the original show, is missing from the reboot.

“David basically decided he wasn’t really interested in repeating the performance of Niles,” Grammer told People.

Pierce, however, has not completely shut the door on returning to the character, suggesting that the right moment could bring him back for an episode or two.

With a largely new cast and a return to Massachusetts, the FRASIER reboot will have something for old and new fans alike.

Movieguide® previously reported:

Kelsey Grammer recently updated FRASIER fans on the upcoming reboot, and it sounds like it has the Dr. Frasier Crane seal of approval!

“We’re in the final stages of the final script for the first episode of FRASIER, and it looks pretty good,” he said while appearing on THE TALK. “I’ve had a couple of runs through it, and I cried, so you know, I’m happy.”

He then joked about the key ingredient to the show: “Frasier. Honestly, it was always called that, so it’s me. The key is me or I am the key.”
