Alfonso Ribeiro Shares Daughter’s Health Status After Accident: ‘Much Better’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Actor and DWTS co-host Alfonso Ribeiro and wife Angela updated fans on the health of their four-year-old daughter Ava on an episode of LIVE WITH KELLY AND MARK.

“She’s doing much better,” Ribeiro said. “She’s, I wouldn’t say fully healed. There’s still scarring a little bit that’s going away. Luckily, her face scar is the least of all of it—some scars still on the arms.”

Ava fell off her scooter the day before she turned 4 in May. She suffered injuries on her arms and face. Ribeiro shared in July that Ava’s recovery would be a very long process.

Movieguide® previously reported on the accident:

Ribeiro spoke about the accident in…detail while appearing on LIVE WITH KELLY AND MARK.

“On Thursday, unfortunately, my daughter got injured and had to have emergency surgery,’ the actor explained. ‘So it was a very stressful weekend. She fell and had basically road rash on her face and arm, and so they had to scalpel off all the skin. [Recovery is] going to be a long process.’

The actor also posted about Ava’s accident on Instagram, writing, ‘I’m so proud of how well she handled everything. She’s so brave strong and creative. I love everything about my little girl.’

“She’s no longer in pain. Emotionally, she’s great,” the actor said on the show. “She literally is a complete daredevil, has no fear. The minute it happened she was like, ‘I want back on the scooter.’ ‘You’re not riding the scooter! You and the scooter are done!'”

Despite her recent accident, the little girl remains fearless. Ribiero recently shared a video of Ava happily learning to ride her bike. Ava dressed in safety gear from head to toe, and Ribiero eagerly ran alongside her.
