Skillet’s John Cooper: ‘Turning to God’ Will Solve America’s ‘Spritual Problem’

Skillet frontman John Cooper urged fans to turn to God as American culture has lost its “moral framework.”
“I just wanted to send you a message to say this. Have you already been hit with how crazy and the stupidity of our culture? It’s absolutely insane,” Cooper said in an Instagram video. “My guess is it’s already hit you via email or your news feed or your social media. I’m already hit with how stupid our world is. We have a real problem.”
“It is not something that politics can fix,” he added. “No politician can fix this. They cannot fix what’s going on.”
“We have a deep spiritual problem in this country. Honestly, ask yourself this question. How else can you explain the insanity of the day? We turn our backs on God. We turn our backs on the entire Creator. All of the things that built this country, that taught us prosperity, that taught us how to live. We completely obliterated all of it,” the singer continued.
“What we are in desperate need of is going back to a moral framework. It is the moral framework of the Bible is what built this country. Over the next few weeks, maybe month, I’ll be sharing a ton of videos like this. No politician can fix it, but turning to God can,” Cooper added.
He concluded the video with 2 Chronicles 7:14, which says, “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”
“We need repentance, we need to come back to a moral framework,” Cooper said. “It has got to happen with a return to the God of the Bible…the Bible is wisdom, and the Bible will help us get back on track.”
“We are in trouble! Politics can’t fix it, politicians can’t fix it, celebrities and influencers DEFINITELY can’t fix it 😜 we are in a spiritual crisis,” he captioned the video.
Cooper frequently discusses America’s need for God. In his upcoming book “Wimpy, Weak, & Woke: How Truth Can Save America From Utopian Destruction,” the singer explores how turning to God will restore the country.
“The increasing conflicts in America today are often referred to as a ‘culture war,’ but what is truly happening is an age-old war between gods. It’s a winner-takes-all battle between the living God and the false god of Man,” Cooper told New Release Today. “This book uncovers the philosophies behind utopian dreams that become dystopian nightmares and presents a positive vision for how we can thrive and flourish. The false promises of Man lead to destruction; God’s ways lead to life, and that’s the message I want to share in this book.”
“Do you feel like the world is getting crazier by the minute? What is happening? How has this happened so quickly? And what can we do about it? This isn’t about politics. It isn’t about culture war. We are in a spiritual battle, and the stakes are higher than we could possibly have imagined. But, THERE IS HOPE!” Cooper wrote about the book on Instagram.
“Wimpy, Weak, & Woke” is set to release November 14.

“As the world gets crazier, what I’m seeing in my concerts anyway, is that a lot of people are coming, bringing their families. Skillet is becoming a family event, even for people who are not into the Jesus part. They’re like, ‘I’m not into the Jesus stuff, but I can bring my kids here, and I’m running out of places to bring them.’ Because even sports are getting inundated with woke culture that even as non-Christians, they’re uncomfortable with,” he explained.
