LORD OF THE RINGS’ Sean Astin, John Rhys-Davies Star in “Christmas Carol” Podcast

LORD OF THE RINGS’ Sean Astin and John Rhys-Davies will star in a four-part, fully dramatized podcast retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol.”
“Everyone knows the story of Scrooge in ‘A Christmas Carol.’ We have seen the movies and stage shows and read the book. But there has never been an all-star, full-cast dramatic audio adaptation of the story produced in the US in podcast form – until now,” said Mark Ramsey, creator and director of the podcast, in a press release.
“This is not just a retelling of a familiar tale. This original adaptation by Paul Cuschieri adds new elements which bring to life more of the story’s central themes: the importance of hope, the gift of forgiveness, compassion for others in need, and the miracle of redemption,” he continued. “Families have never heard the story told this way before by a cast of familiar names and voices.”
The podcast, titled “Scrooge: A Christmas Carol,” is presented by Hope Media Group and Compassion International.
Ryhs-Davies narrates the dramatization, and Astin stars as Ebenezer Scrooge, alongside Juliet Mills as the Ghost of Christmas Future; THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN star Ben Barnes as the Ghost of Christmas Present; Lucy Punch as the Ghost of Christmas Past; Bethany Joy Lenz as Elizabeth; Ryan O’Quin as Bob Cratchit; Clive Standen as Fredrick; and Maxwell Caulfield as Jacob Marley.
