Kirk Cameron Shares Hope: ‘The Lord Shall Preserve You’

By Movieguide® Contributor

As more violence seems to mar the world every day, Kirk Cameron shares why Christians have a hope that can overcome any fear.

“The Lord shall preserve you from all evil. He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in, from this time evermore,” Cameron said in a Facebook, quoting Psalm 121.

“Notice three times he says that,” the actor continued. “He shall preserve you from evil. He shall preserve your soul. He shall preserve your going out and your coming in. The triple promise of the Lord’s preserving grace should slay and extinguish every fear that you and I have.”

While trusting God removes fear, it does not mean that believers will never experience harm or evil. Everyone will face trials in life. Rather, hope comes from knowing that the Lord uses all things for the good of his people.

“Calamity and evil may harm you, it may injure me, it may wound us, but it will never overthrow us if we are members of the family of faith because God promises that every form of evil is really a mysterious form of good,” Cameron said. “God overrules [evil] for what is best for His children.”

“Think about that,” he continued. “God works all things together for good for those who love Him, even ‘evil,’ per se. Evil and harm and calamity for the children of God, for the family of faith is really good with a veil on, and it only appears to be evil.”

“God overrules [evil] and turns it into something that draws you closer to Him. That strengthens your faith. That deepens you love and makes Jesus more precious to you,” he added.

Amid the chaos of the world, it is easy to lose sight of the goodness of God. However, Cameron reminds us that through Christ, Christians have a hope that is greater than any fear or worry.

Cameron shares this hope with children through his new book, “The Fox, The Fair, and the Invention Scare,” which released last week.

“Our world is at war, literally,” Cameron told Fox News Digital. “And all along our children are watching, trying to make sense of things. If we can show them something different, if we can show them that we’re really all brothers, we can give them hope.”

“Remember, my friend, that even in the darkest moments, God has a plan to make you shine like the sun,” he encouraged in a recent Instagram post. “Keep your faith strong and your heart open, for your future is filled with the promise of radiant days ahead. Embrace each day with hope and confidence, knowing that God’s love will always guide you toward the light and that if you stand with him, no one can stand against you!”

In a recent Instagram post, Roma Downey shared scripture that brings her peace.

“A psalm of David,” she captioned a video of a beautiful walk through the forest, adding Psalm 23:

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Downey continued, “This is one of [my] favorite Psalms and one of my favorite soundtracks [Leona Lewis’ “Now We Are Free”] both on my morning walk in the woods. Wishing you peace wherever you are this Monday morning.”
