WHEN CALLS THE HEART Season 11 Premieres This Spring

The hit show WHEN CALLS THE HEART will return for its 11th season on April 7, and star Erin Krakow assures fans that it will answer questions left by last season’s cliffhanger.

“I can say that the good news is that those questions will be answered. And pretty much right away, so we’re not gonna have to wait too long in season 11 to get those answers,” Krakow told ET.

Last season’s finale saw Elizabeth Thornton (Krakow) ending her engagement to Lucas (Chris McNally). At the same time, her feelings for Nathan (Kevin McGarry), Hope Valley’s constable, grow. Meanwhile, Lucas is elected governor but is confronted by a stranger right after the election.

Krakow did not want to give any spoilers away for the upcoming season but assured fans that Lucas would return. Season 10 ended with Bill coming up to Nathan and Elizabeth, saying that Lucas needed them right away, implying that he might be in danger.

“We’re not going to lose Chris McNally,” Krakow said. ”He’s fantastic. I can’t imagine that. Yeah, our show just grew and changed when we brought in Kevin and Chris, he’s got to stick around…[W]e are continuing to explore this political route he’s on.”

“Elizabeth and Nathan’s storyline will continue, as they’ll navigate their growing romantic feelings while also leaning on each other amid parenting obstacles,” ET’s synopsis reads. “Elsewhere, Lucas must confront his past in order to lead Hope Valley into the future, while Bill and Rosemary team up to unravel a mystery putting their entire community at risk.”

Krakow remarked on the show’s success and credited it to the “loyalty, love, and longevity” of its fans, or Hearties.

“I cannot wait for viewers to tune in to this season and to continue on this journey with all of us! Season 11 delivers more heart than ever before,” she said.

“If there’s anything we can take away from the success of WHEN CALLS THE HEART, it’s that these stories, these characters, and essentially their lives, is that they resonate and they matter deeply to so many of our viewers,” Lisa Hamilton Daly, Executive Vice President, Programming, added.

Co-creator Brian Bird believes that the WCTH’s uplifting and redemptive storylines coming on the scene when much of TV’s offerings are violent and dark is a key to its huge following.

“When the world is filled with zombies and vampires and crystal meth dealers and dead body shows, there are a bunch of people who are saying, ‘I’m not watching that.’ A huge audience,” Bird said. “We came along at a time when nobody was giving them food. It’s like an audience that starved in a famine and they’re hungry. If you bring them food, they will reward you. They will love you like nobody’s business.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the success of WCTH:

WHEN CALLS THE HEART has continued to be a standout amongst our Hallmark catalogue and we’re thrilled that we’re able to bring more stories of faith and community to the homes of millions of viewers,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, Executive Vice President of Programming.

WHEN CALLS THE HEART was last year’s No. 1 most-watched scripted series on basic cable, with an average of 2.9 million viewers tuning in every Sunday night. The season 9 finale, which debuted in May 2022, brought in 3.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched episode of the season.

“The uplifting nature of the show paired with the love and positivity in the storytelling makes for a very heartwarming television experience and it’s only going to get bigger and better in season 11,” Daly added.
