HGTV’s Jenny Marrs responded to hateful comments with a powerful message of faith.

“Yesterday, I happened upon some really hateful words written about me on the good ole’ internet,” the FIXER TO FABULOUS star wrote in a recent post, explaining that the comments ripped apart everything from her voice and sense of humor to her parenting.

Marrs continued, “So? I took a few moments and sat in the hurt. I was really sad about it. I was also really angry. I laid it at God’s feet in my frustration. I told Him that I didn’t ask for any of this. He led me here. He knows how much I hate being looked at and judged by strangers. He knows I’m really just an insecure girl who wants a quiet life with my family, my animals and my garden. Yet, He asked me to step into a very different life than the one I wanted and He has led me every step of the way and held me so faithfully. Even still, I told Him I quit. I’m done. I’m tired. I can’t make everyone happy and it’s not worth trying. They talked about MY KID, GOD. I am done.”

She then sent an “SOS text” to friends and “was reminded of TRUTH.” The next day, Marrs turned to her Bible Recap study and read a card that someone had sent her.

Biblical Truth

“Today, I felt led to read the words. And, they lifted my heart. What an encouragement,” she wrote. “I had received this card and this book in the mail from a stranger. No return address. I’ve never been able to thank Terry Brown for this gift. The words she wrote and the study she gifted me have been a source of daily joy for the past couple of years. I’ve now gifted this same study countless times. We now carry it at the Mercantile. It’s been life-giving.”

The card reads, in part, “It’s so fun to see you use your voice to love others and share the testimony of Jesus in your family. He changes everything.”

“Today’s reading was particularly poignant. My word for the year is ‘delight’ and here, in black and white, is a reminder that God called me His ‘beloved’ and He delights in doing so,” Marrs explained. “Beloved. Not the lies from behind the screen.”

While she was initially hesitant to share this post, Marrs said she knows others are “struggling with loud lies coming at them. If that’s you, I pray that you can turn down the lies and remember that you are Beloved.”

Fans and friends quickly filled the comment section with love and support, and Jenny Marrs later made a follow-up post, writing, “You guys. I can’t get over the love you literally flooded me with yesterday. I read every message and word of truth with deep, deep gratitude. I feel overwhelmed by it all.”

“God knew all along that all of this was in store. The hard and the immensely good. All mixed together with light and love shining brightly into the dark shadows. This is the good stuff,” she concluded.

While life in the public eye can be extremely difficult, Marrs’ husband Dave recently spoke about the “greatest benefit” to being the stars of HGTV’s FIXER TO FABULOUS.

“The greatest benefit for Jenny and I is that we’re going to have a timestamp of our family growing up, our kids growing up, and being a part of [the show] when they wanted to,” Dave Marrs told EntertainmentNOW.

He added, “Our first calling is to our kids. We have a great production company that knows if my kids have a soccer game or a basketball game, I’m not filming. I’m going to be at that game and they respect that, they honor that for us. I think that’s why the show has worked as long as it has, because they know that our family and our faith … comes before the show and it will be here long after the show is done.”
