The upcoming LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE reboot found its Ingalls family!
“Big news from the prairie! Have you met the Ingalls family cast for Netflix’s new series?” an Instagram post from the official “Little House on the Prairie” page reads. “Alice Halsey will step into the iconic role of Laura Ingalls, with Luke Bracey as Charles ‘Pa’ Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline ‘Ma,’ and Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls.”
The post added that Netflix’s adaptation “promises to stay closer to the Little House book series which is beloved by many generations and has sold over 70 million copies!”
Deadline described the reboot as “part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West.”
“I am so thankful for this!” Hughes posted on Instagram. “I’ve loved the Little House books since I was very young and little me would absolutely die of excitement! Big me is sooooo excited too! Thank you to the entire Little House team for trusting me to take care of Mary! I Absolutely will! This project has my whole heart!!!!”
Halsey also shared her excitement about the series on Instagram, writing, “I love all of the Little House books so much, and I’m so excited and grateful to get to bring Laura to life! Thank you so much to the Little House creative team for putting your faith in me.”

The original LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE series debuted in 1974 on NBC and starred Michael Landon (Pa), Karen Grassle (Ma), Melissa Gilbert (Laura) and Melissa Sue Anderson (Mary).
Gilbert celebrated Halsey’s casting on Instagram, writing, “And…here she is. Wising them and @thealicehalsey all the luck in the world!!”
“Netflix’s new LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE series has found its Laura Ingalls! We are so thrilled to announce that Alice Halsey will be playing the iconic role of Laura Ingalls,” she continued. “Please give her a warm welcome to the Little House family!”
Gilbert continued, “The Little House books endure to this day because so many people see themselves in Laura. She is a disruptor. Honest to a fault. Questions authority. And she’s our window into this adventure.”
In a recent interview with USA Today, Gilbert commented on the enduring legacy of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE.
“The thing that moves me the most is when people tell me the stories of how LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE impacted their lives, what their childhoods were like, and why it was so important to them,” she said. “A lot of people have said — and I’m sure will continue to say to me — ‘Look, you were my escape from a bad childhood.’ …We taught a lot of lessons and provided a lot of escapist entertainment.”
Fans of the original LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE are excited to see what the new cast will bring to the reboot series!
