Bruce Willis’ daughter, Rumer Willis, reflected on her dad’s dementia battle on Father’s Day.

“Today is hard,” Rumer wrote to her dad in an Instagram post Sunday. “I feel a deep ache in my chest to talk to you and tell you everything I’m doing and what’s going on in my life. To hug you and ask you about life and your stories and struggles and successes.”

“I wish I asked you more questions while you could still tell me about it all,” she wrote. “But I know you wouldn’t want me to be sad today, so I’ll try to just be grateful reminding myself how lucky I am that you’re my dad and that you’re still with me and I can still hold you and hug you and kiss your cheek and rub your head I can tell you stories.”

She noted she’s grateful for the time she has with him and can see his eyes “light up” when he sees his granddaughter, Louetta.

“I will be grateful for every moment I have with you,” she said. “I love you so much dad happy Father’s Day. Sending love to all those who are in the boat with me or have lost their fathers, to the single moms who are the dads too, to my future baby daddy ❤️.”

Rumer shared photos of herself with Bruce when she was little and as an adult with her and her daughter.

Bruce’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, posted, “Happy Father’s Day to all the dads living with disability or disease, showing up in the ways they can and to the children who show up for them.”

“I’m profoundly sad today. I wish, with every cell in my body, that things could be different for him and lighter for our family,” she wrote. “As they say in our FTD community, ‘It is what it is.’ And while that might sound dismissive, to me, it’s not.”

“It grounds me,” she explained. “It helps me return to the acceptance of what is and not fight this every step of the way like I used to.”

The actor’s family shared rare photos with Bruce on his 70th birthday on March 19. His ex-wife, Demi Moore, celebrated by sharing photos with him. She captioned them, “We love you.”

“Happy birthday to the Greatest of all time,” his daughter, Scout wrote in her set pf photos with him. “…The music I make, the magic I create, and the magnetic mischief I incite, that’s my father’s legacy alive in the world.”

His daughter, Tallulah, added, “He’s a spaceman, a hero with a badge, a sassy detective with unparalleled banter — and it’s been a privilege to witness all these different characters engraved into history because of his innate sprit and soul.”

Last September, Tallulah said on the TODAY show, “He’s doing stable, which, in this situation, is good and is hard. There’s painful days, but there’s so much love. It’s really shown me to not take any moment for granted, and I really do think that we’d be best friends.”

Though Bruce faces a battle every day that passes, he is blessed to be surrounded by love.
