Have you ever watched THE CHOSEN and wondered if the stories it tells are in the Bible? Pastor Levi Lusko answers those questions with his new sermon series “Is That In The Bible?”

“A few months ago, we took a 48-hour trip to Midlothian, Texas, the home of some of the iconic sets from @thechosentvseries, with a run-and-gun film team and captured five teachings for ‘Is That In The Bible?'” Lusko wrote in a post on Instagram.

“It was the only window in between their filming days, and the crew graciously flung the doors wide open for us to come on set to bring this series to life,” he continued. “It’s been an incredible summer watching these scenes and scriptures come alive in our hearts.”

The five-week series launched on June 15.

“Each week, we’ll watch cinematic scenes from the show, then open the Word, dig deep, and answer the question, ‘Wait, is all this really in the Bible?’ We’ll wrestle with the tension, lean into the humanity, and see the life of Jesus through fresh eyes,” a description on Lusko’s website says.

He thanked THE CHOSEN creator Dallas Jenkins, his wife Amanda and the Come and See Foundation for making the series possible.

A day later, Lusko shared a clip of a message he preached from THE CHOSEN set.

“God can do what you can’t, and he knows what you don’t, so roll with him. Trust his perspective. Don’t trust your own judgment. And it’s an emphasis all throughout the chosen, it’s one of the great bylines or themes throughout the show, is that following Jesus, you have to get used to different,” the pastor said in the video.

“Trust shows up over and over in the stories of people who choose to follow Jesus (mine included and I’m guessing yours too), but when we surrender and follow in faith, we don’t just watch Him work, we get to be part of it,” he added in the caption.

THE CHOSEN is currently in the middle of filming Season 6, which will depict Christ’s crucifixion.

“It’s brutal. This is the most difficult thing I think I’ve ever done,” Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus, revealed of filming the crucifixion. “It’s the most difficult season. It’s the most difficult role, and this being the most difficult role in the most difficult season, with the physicality that is expected, that I feel is expected, and that ultimately we will portray during Christ’s suffering and death — His passion — I don’t know anything else that could be more challenging to me as a performer.”

Resources like Lusko’s sermon series will help THE CHOSEN fans better understand the context the show comes from and deepen their faith.
