Labib Mikhail originally wrote The Virgin Mary in the Light of the Word of God in Arabic to minister to Muslims and those in the Eastern traditional churches. Translated into Spanish, The Virgin Mary has also gone out to the traditional Christians of South America. Nordskog publishing now presents the book in English. I believe everyone needs the message of this book.
The Virgin Mary in the Light of the Word of God fills a tremendous need for a concise, elegant, biblical treatment of Mary, the mother of Jesus. The Lord has here used Egyptian Christian author Labib Mikhail for this work. Dr. Labib, as he is affectionately known, began his walk in the Coptic Orthodox Church, one of the traditional churches addressed in the book. He became an accomplished evangelical scholar, apologist, journalist, counselor, and media contributor— well equipped for his service here.
Dr. Labib gently and graciously leads us, carefully navigating the narrow path. He urges us past focus on Mary, toward Christ and His Gospel where it belongs. Yes, The Virgin Mary would correct those who focus upon Mary at the expense of Christ. Dr. Labib also gives Mary her due scriptural honor while fending off the many faith-damaging myths perpetuated about her. Yet, he also suggests how all Christians should answer every temptation toward human religion. Christ compels us unto salvation and life through our focus on His Person through His Word. The full counsel of the Word of God—reality held in the divine tension of all truth—is the narrow path that leads to life.
This Gospel leads to the eternal and abundant life God always intended for mankind. In the Virgin Mary, the committed Christian will find an edifying presentation of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, and of sound doctrine. This is the message of the Virgin Mary.
