Chris Pratt lends his voice to the Hallow prayer app, reading John Mark Comer’s The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry aloud.
“‘Sabbath is more than just a day; it’s a way of being in the world. It’s a spirit of restfulness that comes from abiding, from living in the Father’s loving presence all week long.’ – The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry,” an Instagram post from Hallow reads.
The caption continues, “Today @prattprattpratt breaks down the importance of sabbath from @johnmarkcomer book, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, because even God rested after creating the whole world.”

In a description of The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry: How to Stay Emotionally Healthy and Spiritually Alive in the Chaos of the Modern World, Comer wrote, “I live in one of the most secular, post-Christian cities in our nation, and the longer I’m here, the more convinced I become that he’s right: hurry is the issue under all the other issues. The root cause beneath so much of the anger and anxiety of our cultural moment. And followers of Jesus are not immune to culture’s pain.”
“Many of us live with a low-grade fatigue and chronic anxiety that rarely, if ever, goes away. We careen through our days at breakneck speed, and wonder where God is in the fray,” he continued. “The reality is, most of us are just too busy to live an emotionally healthy and spirituality vibrant life. Hurry is incompatible with the way of Jesus. The love, joy, and peace that form the nucleus of Jesus’ kingdom are all impossible in a life of speed. We must…’Ruthlessly eliminate hurry.’”
Pratt is a frequent partner of Hallow, and this year, he is among stars like Gwen Stefani and THE CHOSEN’s Jonathan Roumie who have lent their voices to special Advent audios.
“It’s the most wonderful time of year: Christmas. The joy, the family time, the presents,” the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY actor said in an Instagram video. “The real reason I love Christmas — it’s so much more important — it’s because we are celebrating the greatest gift God has ever given us and that is his Son, Jesus Christ.”
He continued, “I would love for you to join me and millions of other Christians around the world praying this year on Hallow. Together we can focus on what’s really important about this extraordinary season.”
Pratt’s reading of Comer’s book is an excellent reminder to slow down and rest, even during the busy holiday season.
