For Kathie Lee Gifford and her grandchildren, good manners run in the family!
“Yesterday I was out to lunch. Cody’s little boy Frankie is 3½, and little Ford just turned 2, and all the waitstaff comes by, and they both put out their hands out to everybody to go, ‘Nice to meet you!’” she recalled during an episode of MAKING SPACE WITH HODA KOTB.
Kotb noted that she remembered Gifford’s own children, Cassidy, 32, and Cody, 35, doing the same thing when they were young.
Gifford said her grandchildren have gone “beyond that,” adding that they are good at making eye contact with people and wishing them well.

“I think that’s one of the most joyful things in my life is watching my children be such amazing parents,” she said. “If Frank [Gifford, her late husband] and I did anything right, it would be that.”
Gifford frequently shares her joy about being a grandmother to Frankie, Ford, Finn, Rosie and Faith — who are all under 3 years old.
“I’m just so grateful for them,” she told PEOPLE. “They’re precious and they give me a purpose to get up every morning when everything else is just not the same for me. Life is just so different and I just try to find joy when I can find it. And the only place I can really find it is in the Word of God and in my grand[children].”
In a separate interview with the outlet in 2024, the former TV host said, “I had my children later in life and I’ve certainly had my grandchildren later. It is exactly what everybody’s always told me, which seems like such a cliché. But clichés — they’re real. Because they’re true.”
“There is nothing like it in the whole world. To see my children, first of all, so in love with their spouses. I’m so grateful to God for that. They picked wisely. They’re so in love and it makes me so happy,” she continued. “Then to see them parenting the way they do, which is beyond. Cody’s wife was bedridden for like six months with their second baby and the love they showed each other and the love they had for this unborn child that they were just going to save no matter what happened.”
It looks like Gifford’s children are already hard at work instilling the same values their parents prioritized in their own sons and daughters!
