PEPPA PIG has a new showrunner: ADVENTURES OF PADDINGTON writer Adam Redfern!

“PEPPA PIG is one of the rare preschool properties that has become a genuine fixture of modern family culture — something I’ve seen first-hand at home — so stepping into this role is both professionally exciting and personally meaningful,” he told Variety.

Redfern continued, “The opportunity ahead is to continue to thoughtfully evolve the programme while protecting the simple, character-led storytelling that has powered its global success. Together with our writers, directors and partners, we’re focused on delivering stories that reflect the everyday experiences of today’s preschoolers, while keeping the humour and emotional authenticity that fans expect.”

“I’m delighted to be joining the team and like Peppa, I’m ready to jump straight into the muddy puddles!” he finished.

Tamara Grindrod, Hasbro’s SVP for action, preschool and fashion, added, “PEPPA PIG has a strong and clearly defined identity that has guided the series for more than 20 years. Adam joins at a moment of strong creative momentum for the brand. His experience and leadership will help guide the franchise forward with care and intention as we continue shaping stories for a new generation of preschoolers and parents,” per Animation Magazine.

PEPPA PIG is one of the most popular children’s TV shows today, with parents and children alike loving the animated series.

“Peppa is a great example of animals who are real people to children, presenting in a positive family unit, doing ordinary activities that all kids love to do, showcasing a playful lifestyle brand with great sound effects (snort!). That formula helped set it apart from other brands,” Brenda Bisner, Canadian-based streaming platform Kidoodle.TV’s chief content officer, told Fortune of the show’s success.

Some of PEPPA PIG’s crewmembers spoke to CBS in 2021 about what sets PEPPA PIG apart from other shows aimed at children.

“We’re talking about very human emotions and feelings. So the dynamics resonate internationally with any family,” animation director Andrea Tran explained

Producer Jamie Badminton added, “Nothing’s ever allowed to get to a point of real conflict, which is part of the simplicity of the storytelling, making sure that we’re not overcomplicating the stories, really, so that we can stay that pure and in the moment.”

Brian Blessed, who voices Grampy Rabbit in the show, told the outlet, “It does embrace happiness. It has many levels, but it brings joy. It makes people happy.”

PEPPA PIG fans hope Redfern continues the show’s legacy as he takes on the role of showrunner!
