Teddy Bear Award® winner Jonathan Roumie and Christian singer-songwriter Matt Maher announced they will host a one-night Advent concert at Carnegie Hall on Sunday, Nov. 29.

Maher is a Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter. There will be a Christmas musical, titled “One Day,” an orchestra and 240-person worship choir. Maher will orchestrate the music and Roumie will narrate the production, Church Leaders reported.

“So I think to celebrate Advent, because it’s never too soon to celebrate the arrival of Jesus…Why don’t we do a show, like a concert?” Maher said in a joint video with Roumie.

“I think it’s a great idea, so if you’re listening and you haven’t caught on, what we’re trying to tell you is we are doing a one-night-only concert at Carnegie Hall, Sunday, Nov. 29,” Roumie said.

The event also will feature Amanda Jane Cooper, who currently plays Glinda in “Wicked” on Broadway, and THE VOICE’s Carlos Santiago. The music is composed by John Bolin.

True North Productions will welcome novice singers to join the choir. It announced: “NO AUDITION REQUIRED…we need to know that you have previous choral experience and are able to learn the choral parts we will send you in advance. If ‘Yes’ and ‘Yes,’ then you are welcome to register and JOIN the ONE DAY CHOIR!”

Pre-sale tickets are available now through Carnegie Hall’s box office starting at $39.75.

“Let’s kick off Advent with a celebration of the True reason for the season, Christ’s love for us. 😍🙏🏽💜” Roumie wrote on social media.

Truth North Productions stated Roumie will also share his testimony and read from scripture at the event.

At the Museum of the Bible event earlier this year, Roumie honored 21 Christian martyrs who died for their faith in Libya 11 years prior.

“Their story helps strengthen our own resolve, especially when we are weak in areas of our life, in moments of our life where we need stronger faith,” Roumie said in February. “We can look to them and say, ‘They died for Jesus. What am I doing to live for him today?’”

Roumie served as an executive producer on an animated movie about the martyrs, called THE 21, which came out last year. One of the things that drew him to the movie was his understanding of what they went through.

“Why they were martyred, why they were killed,” he added, “and the resilience and courage that they displayed in professing the name of Jesus to their dying breath, which is what was the only supposed crime that they had committed, is that they wouldn’t deny Jesus.”

“The fact that they, despite potentially weeks or months of torture, it didn’t change their minds, didn’t change their faith, and didn’t change their heart. And so when you see the story, it was impossible for me not to be compelled by it, to want to be connected to it,” he said.

The 13-minute movie is free to watch on YouTube. Like his upcoming Carnegie Hall event, it’s one of the many faith-based projects Roumie is involved in.
