About Time?

USA Today reports that ABC’s drama series “Brothers & Sisters” featured a “gay commitment ceremony” as part of their season finale this May.
Giddy over their “accomplishment,” actor Matthew Rhys says, “It’s all very progressive, evolved and about time.”
Is it really “about time” for this? Has America been petitioning the networks for a “gay commitment ceremony?” Have writers run out of ideas and so the season finale wedding cliché needs a twist to make it novel? Is that all this is? Or is there a deeper agenda eroding the sensitivity of what’s morally right and wrong?
