Andrea Bocelli Reflects on Documentary THE JOURNEY: ‘A Very Spiritual Experience’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Andrea Bocelli recently shared what he wants audiences to take away from his latest movie, THE JOURNEY: A MUSIC SPECIAL WITH ANDREA BOCELLI.

THE JOURNEY sees Bocelli and his wife Veronica go on a pilgrimage, meeting up with friends and performers along the way, including Tori Kelly, 2CELLOS, Michael W. Smith, and Tauren Wells.

“For me,” the singer said. “It’s been a very spiritual moment [and] experience and I really hope that people watching this movie can find a new, deeper hope and faith.”

Wells also spoke about his appearance in the movie, saying it was “incredible…a dream that I didn’t know to dream.”

THE JOURNEY was initially given a theatrical run from April 2-6, but it’s just been announced that it’s been extended to April 9.

Fathom Events called the audience response “overwhelming.”

“The excitement and anticipation for this beautiful film is a testament to the hope and joy found in THE JOURNEY,” Matt Crouch, president of the Trinity Broadcasting Network, said. “Audiences are going to be blown away by the incredible musical performances and the stunning scenery displayed.”

A portion of the Movieguide® review for THE JOURNEY reads:

THE JOURNEY: A MUSIC SPECIAL FROM ANDREA BOCELLI is a stunning, wonderful production full of beauty, faith and inspiration. The movie is shot against the incredible backdrop of Italy and the Tuscan countryside. THE JOURNEY doesn’t have a specific plot or beginning, middle or end, and is nothing like a superhero comic book movie from Marvel Studios or DC Comics. Instead, it contains beautiful musical performances by talented artists and spiritually uplifting conversation to inspire people’s faith. MOVIEGUIDE® commends Andrea Bocelli’s music special, THE JOURNEY, for families and other audiences. THE JOURNEY is appearing in many theaters during the week before Easter.
