Auburn QB Remembers God-Given Purpose: ‘Share Gospel’ Through Football

Auburn Tigers quarterback Hank Brown stays grounded in his faith through walks, music and remembering his God-given purpose.

“Going on walks for me has been huge. Listening to worship music, and just, you know, hearing His voice is what I’ve been doing,” Brown said in a recent Sports Spectrum podcast episode.

He also revealed a piece of encouragement he would give to other believers.

“One that just keeps me going every day is I continually think about my purpose,” Brown explained. “Why am I on this earth? Why am I living? Obviously, that purpose is to love God and love others. That’s my sole purpose. That helps me set in an amazing perspective of, yes, I am a football player. That’s what I do, but that’s not who I am. I’m a follower of Jesus Christ, and so, if God is allowing me to be a football player, then I’m gonna do my best to help share his Gospel through being a football player because being a football player doesn’t define who I am.”

In 2023, Brown told the Locked On Auburn podcast about the importance of his faith.

“I try to keep my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the center of my life and it’s something that correlates into my entire life,” he explained. “As far as football goes, I’m playing football and God’s put me in this situation to glorify and honor Him and to use my platform to do that. This is a great opportunity to pour into my teammates. Any praise or glory that I get, it’s not me. God has blessed me with what I have.”

In a recent post on his social media, Brown shared James 1:2-4, which reads, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete not lacking anything.”
