Australian NCIS Coming to CBS This Fall

With TV show production at a standstill due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, CBS is swapping an American favorite for Australia’s NCIS: SYDNEY.
“CBS had previously announced a Monday night schedule for fall that included NCIS repeat at 9 p.m. ET, followed by an unspecified ‘Paramount+ Original’ at 10 p.m., which has now been confirmed to be NCIS: SYDNEY,” Variety reported.
Season 21 of NCIS was set to arrive this fall, but the strikes put it on hold. Now, the soonest fans can expect to see the 21st season will be in 2024.
CBS president Amy Reisenbach said, “NCIS is one of the most popular series in the world, and we’re thrilled to expand this franchise with a uniquely Australian twist. With the addition of NCIS: SYDNEY, our studio and network footprint continues to grow in this fascinating world that has been a proven winner with viewers on both linear and streaming platforms.”
“Featuring the stunning backdrop of Australia, the new series will incorporate the high-stakes intrigue, humor, and camaraderie that have kept fans captivated by the NCIS teams for over two decades,” Reisenbach said.
NCIS: SYDNEY creative producer Sara Richardson boasts that the international iteration carries the NCIS “DNA” throughout the show.
The new series will feature Olivia Swann, Todd Lasance, Sean Sagar, Tuuli Narkle, Evie Cooper, Mavournee Hazel and William McInnes.
Movieguide® previously reported on NCIS: SYDNEY:
NCIS: SYDNEY will exclusively be available in Australia for Paramount+ users and Network 10 viewers. It is the first international iteration of the beloved NCIS franchise.
“We are thrilled to be expanding the ‘NCIS’ franchise, one of our most powerful and iconic television IPs, across borders and into Australia,” said Lindsey Martin, head of international co-productions and development at CBS Studios. “It is a joy to work with this talented ‘NCIS: SYDNEY’ creative team, actors, and crew for our inaugural international original, and to be able to tell our exciting NCIS stories with a uniquely Australian sensibility.”
