Marvel Plans Reshoots For CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER

By Movieguide® Contributor

Marvel Studios is adding another writer to CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER.

Matthew Orton, who previously worked as a consulting producer on Marvel’s MOON KNIGHT series, will write additional scenes and dialogue for the upcoming movie.

“Orton will work on material that will be shot in additional photography, which will take place in spring-summer of 2024,” Deadline reported

These reshoots should be done in plenty of time for NEW WORLD ORDER’s February 2025 release date.

“Rewrites and reshoots so late in the game could be interpreted as a lack of confidence, but the opposite may actually be true here,” Inverse wrote. “BRAVE NEW WORLD is one of the last movies of Phase 5, and the MCU’s latest stage has been wracked by strike delays, actor issues, a general sense of aimlessness, and the dark cloud of ‘superhero fatigue.’ More scenes being added suggests Marvel is using every tool at its disposal to get the franchise back on track.”

NEW WORLD ORDER will star Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, as well as Liv Tyler, Harrison Ford, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, Rosa Salazar, Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly.

There has been no word on the plot for the upcoming CAPTAIN AMERICA movie, but Nate Moore, the vice president of Production & Development at Marvel Studios, gave a few hints.

“Well, look, Sam Wilson’s Captain America, he is going to bring his own team to play,” he told Collider. “It’s no secret that Samuel Sterns is making his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is fantastic because Tim Blake Nelson’s the best. Harrison Ford is taking on the role of General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, and to see Sam Wilson and Thunderbolt Ross, which if you remember actually threw him in prison at the end of Civil War because he violated the Sokovia Accords. There’s going to be some natural sparks there, which I think are going to be really fun.”

Movieguide® previously reported on CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER:

Actor Anthony Mackie, who first donned the stars and stripes of the iconic comic-book superhero Captain America in the series THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER, is set to pick up the shield once again in an upcoming CAPTAIN AMERICA movie.

The new movie is the fourth movie surrounding “Cap,” and is helmed by Julius Onah, the director of THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX.

Chris Evans previously played the avenger until 2019 in AVENGERS: ENDGAME.
