You Have to See These NCIS: ORIGINS Behind-the-Scenes Sneak Peeks
By Movieguide® Contributor
NCIS: ORIGINS is generating hype for its pilot season by offering fans sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes shots before the first episode airs next month.
In July, Austin Stowell documented his transformation into young Gibbs as he got a haircut and cleaned up his facial hair. With the transformation complete, Stowell and the rest of the cast have been hard at work to film the first season.
At the beginning of September, the NCIS Instagram page posted a photo dump of the actors behind the scenes. The photos included the cast garbed up in their NCIS uniforms, the actors enjoying themselves while hanging out at their trailers and other extra content to help audiences get more and more excited for the show.
NCIS: ORIGINS is the highly anticipated story of Gibbs’ first few years in the agency after he gets hand-picked by Mike Franks to join the budding Camp Pendleton office. While the Gibbs that fans know from the original show is a strong, put-together leader, NCIS: ORIGINS explores a time in his life when he is still figuring out who he is.
“[The fans] don’t know as much as they think they do [about Gibbs],” said NCIS: ORIGINS showrunner Mark D. Cross. “Seeing Gibbs arrive at NIS on day 1, and seeing how Gibbs became Gibbs…? You will realize there’s so much more to explore.”
The show also provides a look at beloved characters like Mike Franks and shines a new light on their characters as well. Newcomers include Special Agent Lala Dominguez and Special Agent Vera Strickland. Though all of the characters will be played by new faces, Mark Harmon will return to narrate the show as an older Gibbs reflecting on his life.
The premiere of NCIS: ORIGINS is just over a month away, with the two-hour pilot episode airing on CBS on Monday, Oct. 14.

With the fall TV season just around the corner, here’s everything we currently know about the highly anticipated NCIS: ORIGINS.
The show will offer viewers a look at Gibbs in his early years as an NCIS agent. Though he is only a newly minted special agent, Gibbs is hand-picked to join the ragtag team led by Mike Franks at the budding Camp Pendleton office.
The show will feature well-established characters including Gibbs, Mike Franks and Gibb’s father, while also introducing new faces such as special agent Lala Dominguez and special agent Vera Strickland. Though not appearing in the show, Mark Harmon will return to narrate as an older Gibbs reflecting on his younger years.
Though NCIS: ORIGINS is only currently slated for a 12-episode pilot season, Harmon is hopeful the show will find quick success so CBS will greenlight more episodes.
